No, I have to disagree with you, its a great idea to become informed, prior to becoming a parent. One of many ways is to listen to others who have experience.
Gaining as much knowledge from others prior to taking the first step in anything will always help facilitate the transition and will help position yourself to be more successful in whatever it is you are working torwards
