he didnt force you to take any part in them, only to watch them; and there were other off campus religios activities at the same time.

No not always, and again you assume you were there for every moment of every students time at HLA. We were forced to participate. However I would argue that even being forced to watch such an event is still a means of forcing a religion onto someone.

If youre forced to partake in someone elses religious belifes that you do not share is that okay?

Oh wait there are no negative experiences for you.

Not to sound morbid but I wonder what your take on being raped would be? Would you find it a positive experience?

Sure one them involved us all standing in a circle with a bonfire in the center, we were all given sticks to shake while some Indian danced around chanting something which we were told we had to repeat back to him.

a real native, or imposter?
what tribe?
what was the purpose?
and what did he say that you were supposed to repeat back?

I assume a native but I didnt talk to him.

I dont know.

Who knows. I wasnt paying attention.

Some gibberish.

Why does it matter though? It was still a religious ceremony we were forced to participate in, even if your questions remain unanswered.

i agree with you.
it absolutely seems pointless, particularly if it wasn't authentic and if you didn't even know what he was saying or the significance of it.
many programs rip off native spirituality. that's not cool.

he was native... i don't recall what tribe he was from though. he shared many stories from his life with the students, with the hopes that they would learn from some of his mistakes in life...

My goodness your assumptions never end do they? Were you there standing with me the entire time?
No you were not thus how can you know if we are talking about the same experience?

You cant.

He gave no inspirational talk. He was there simply to preform some ceremony.

Everytime I ever saw him, he did give inspirational talks... and most students looked forward to him coming. He was very enjoyed, by most of the population.

Again this is better. You can only speak of what you experienced, not others.

Could this indian ceremonial person be Mark Warren perhaps? He teaches indian spiritual and indian living skills in the Dahlonega area. I am not sure whether or not he is actually native american or part native american but he has done this sort of thing for years.

if he's the one, he doesn't claim to be native, or to have studied with a native. wonder who ordained him to conduct ceremonies?
just as people don't open a church and start preaching without some training and mentoring, respectful people don't conduct native rituals/ceremonies without training/ mentoring/ approval first.

he claims to be a wilderness survival trainer, naturalist, and author.
