How do you know

if someone is on heroin? especially if they live far away? my closest cousin was an addict and stopped for two years but seems really different again. like she doesn't care about anything. it's hard to tell.

You can't tell, really.  I did junk for years before anyone who knew me (that wasn't doing it too) found out about it, most couldn't tell even after they knew about it and I told them I had kicked, even if I had just gotten high.  Also, many antidepressants make people apathetic, too, so it's really hard to tell.

Let it go, unless they bring it up to you.

and why would one continue to take an anti-d that causes apathy? it seems that would be the wrong med.

i don't agree. to me, apathy=depression. i'd rather feel the pain of life if it also means i feel the joy.

That's just it----the joy isn't there, just the pain.  Hence the preference for apathy.

So, was you going to help your cousin kick it? Or just give a lecture and a brochure on depression?

i wouldn't even know what to do. i was gone when she first got addicted and kicked. i'm not into lectures. i don't judge her, i just love her, and would do anything to help.
