Lack of Appreciation in Houston

Their attitude may have something to do with being herded like cattle onto a bus for who-knows-where. Perhaps they would rather have been taken to a relative's house somewhere in La that to Houston- the asshole of Tx.

Might also have something to do with being quarentined in La for days waiting and waiting and waiting for gov't aid to arrive while the gov't stopped aid from entering.

You have no business volunteering until you get your head screwed on right. You should be thanking them for exposing your childish need to feel like a savior.

BTW Immigrant... blacks are not native to this continent and they didn't 'immigrate' here. They were herded like cattle onto ships and brought here to be the slaves of IMMIGRANTS who ironically took the land and resources from the true natives of this continent.
Be grateful that you are doing well. Had your ancestor's skin been black when they arrived, you all might still be poor despite your best efforts.

I have to say too that you are a control freak. Those people don't want to be pitied or pampered by do-gooder whites. They are perfectly capable of picking up their own bottle of water, they didn't need you to hand it to them.
They are also capable of moving their own beds around and don't need you telling them where to place them.

If I were in charge the damn beds would be stacked at one end of the arena and people could come get the number they needed for their little pod of people.

The truth is, do-gooders want to control every aspect (demeaning), cause they certainly 'know better'...  and are shocked when the 'loosers' don't appreciate their 'help' (control).

DeLay to evacuees: 'Is this kind of fun?'

U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's visit to Reliant Park this morning offered him a glimpse of what it's like to be living in shelter.

While on the tour with top administration officials from Washington, including U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and U.S. Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, DeLay stopped to chat with three young boys resting on cots.

The congressman likened their stay to being at camp and asked, "Now tell me the truth boys, is this kind of fun?"

They nodded yes, but looked perplexed.

If/when he goes to jail, I hope there is a reporter who has the balls to ask him the same question. Hey Tommy, kinda like camp, huh?

A little gratitude can go a long way. A Thank you is a simple way to show some appreciation.
