Evacuation logistics
« on: September 24, 2005, 12:01:00 AM »
In New Orlean's the commentators where making
statements that the city couldn't be evacuated
because so many had no cars. That will be
forever the cause of death during Katrina.

Now we see the massive traffic jams, what
are they going to say caused death's during
Rita, too many cars.

remember in the seventies in the gas shortage, you got to go to the pumps on different days according to your license plate number. i wonder, maybe, if they could do something like that with how people evacuate. like if they have a good twenty four hours, divide up the hours and have people leave at certain times depending on the first letter of their last name. it  would take more complexity, for example, waivers for anyone in a medical transport.

well anyways, we are watching society break down. tomorrow is the huge march in D.C., speaking out against George Bush and the war. it is time to get radical people. NOW. go to the damn protest! go to your town meetings and talk about the Patriot Act, the piss poor and in fact murderous way the Govt dealt with Hurrican Katrina, the cohooneys and consorts of the Pres and his First Bitch Cheney* from whom he receives sexual gratifications in exchange for Govt contracts. talk to people you meet. let's get this out in the open, way out in the open. talk, get mad, plan.

* there is the somewhat controversial opinion that the dominance relationship between the two is actually the reverse.

Appears that homeland security has devised a scheme that could possibly ease the traffic nighmare, IF returning residents cooperate.

Officials set times for Rita evacuees' return
02:22 PM CDT on Saturday, September 24, 2005

State homeland security director Steve McCraw said there will be specific return times for specific areas, but residents evacuated from the zone hit by the hurricane this morning should stay away.

According to McCraw:

? Evacuees may return Sunday to areas west of Interstate 45 and north of Interstate 10, including Tomball, Woodlands, Waller, Hockley, Katy, Brookshire and surrounding communities.

? Evacuees may return Monday to inside Loop 610 and areas south of I-10 and west of State Highway 35, including central Houston, Richmond, Stafford, Rosenberg, Sugar Land and Pearland.

? Evacuees may return Tuesday to areas east of I-45, north of I-10 and west of the Liberty and Chambers county lines.

? Everybody to the east and south of those lines should stay away until further notice because of blocked roads, downed power lines and other damage.
