Courtney Love hits out at mom for tell-all book

Indo-Asian News Service

London, October 3, 2005

Troubled rocker Courtney Love has hit back at her mother Linda Carroll for claims in her book that the singer was a violent person and a drug and booze addict since her teens.

Carroll has penned a new tell-all "Her Mother's Daughter" which claims, among other things, that the troubled rocker started taking drugs at the age of four.

Pagesix.com quoted Love's representative as saying: "We find it astonishing, and profoundly depressing, that any mother would write a book containing numerous allegations about her own young daughter.

"This is especially true of Ms. Carroll, who abandoned her daughter when she was seven years old and whom Ms Love thus barely knows at all. We strongly suggest that the book be viewed for what it is, a work of vicious and greedy fiction."

Last month, Love, widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, was sentenced to 180 days in a live-in drug treatment facility after pleading guilty to violating her probation.

I bet Courtney will model her behavior
in rehab after Angela Jolie's role as
Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted:

Courtney Love's mom sounds like a psycho. How cruel and completely devoid of motherly protection to write such a book.

I wonder which rehab she will be in. How nice of us to lock Courtney up so she can get better. Really, I feel a little embarassed. It's just sort of busybodyish for any of us to be involved in anybody's drug business. I mean, I could right now tell you what sort of foodstuffs anyone up and down my putative block has in their kitchen. But in general I wouldn't, and I wouldn't "call the cops" on anyone for all the ice cream they ate, either. Can you imagine, locking up a neighbor of yours for their gluttonous diet?

Another thing I would like to imagine, is if drugs were completely legal to make, grow, sell, buy or use, what would that be like?

The law is if one commits a crime,
or is a danger to herself or others.

Where have you been?

Even Courtney admitted she was out
of control.

Yes, definately let all druggies do
what they want no matter how much they
hurt themselve, their kids, their families
and all those that are lucky enough to
be in range.

Perhaps you should be her neighbor and
keep the police away. Maybe you could
babysit while she goes out and has
a good time ...

It would be a lot better than it is now, with all the lame-ass Prohibitionists in power.

In a perfect world people could use
whatever drugs and medications they
want. No one should care, and all
would be well.

Taxes would be collected, and society
would be better off.

---

Reality, sadly, is that drugs like
meth have totally fucked up the good
side of drugs and destroyed people's
lives and those around them.

Individual's right to take, or refuse,
medications seems to be everyone elses
business.

---

The only thing we can deal with is
reality.

That bites!

It means that she was quite mature for her age.

Yeah, I'm sure Courtney Love, heiress to Kurt Cobain's estate, who owns the rights to Nirvana's back catalogure, and is a successful musician in her own right, was "stealing everything that (wasn't) nailed down.  Give me a fucking break already.  Quit blaming criminal behavior on drugs and drug use, asshole.  Drug use is drug use, stealing is stealing. Two different things. Scapegoating drugs for criminal behavior is bullshit, and smacks of 12Step jive "I was powerless over drugs, that's why I robbed the liquor store".  If I had a "whacked out crackhead" that was stealing from me, I would deal with them the same as if it was a Sunday school teacher stealing from me.
