Troubled rocker Courtney Love has hit back at her mother Linda Carroll for claims in her book that the singer was a violent person and a drug and booze addict since her teens.
Carroll has penned a new tell-all "Her Mother's Daughter" which claims, among other things, that the troubled rocker started taking drugs at the age of four.
Pagesix.com quoted Love's representative as saying: "We find it astonishing, and profoundly depressing, that any mother would write a book containing numerous allegations about her own young daughter.
"This is especially true of Ms. Carroll, who abandoned her daughter when she was seven years old and whom Ms Love thus barely knows at all. We strongly suggest that the book be viewed for what it is, a work of vicious and greedy fiction."
Last month, Love, widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, was sentenced to 180 days in a live-in drug treatment facility after pleading guilty to violating her probation.
