It's not necessary and not worth the trouble, unless you have solid plans to write a book, pursue legal action or do some other thing that will require personal credibility. Barring those scenerios, there's little to be gained by attaching what comes down to an anon identity to your words. It's enough for most interested readers to just put together your thoughts in whatever context you place them. So it
is helpful to all of us if you register a username so that readers can do that. But that implies a degree of trust in my promise to keep it confidential. And I don't expect everyone who comes along to trust me that much.
