In case you missed it, many of the posters here are angry because they went through wilderness therapy or were forced through a TBS or similar program. It was the program that caused the anger.

The staff that work in this industry all have one priority. Helping kids, in the programs that I have worked in safety was always the number 1 priority. If a student went through the entire program and got nothing but a safe stay, then there was still success. Some success's are greater than others is granted. Does wilderness work for all kids, no, but it does work for many. I think that over the years there have been thousands of wilderness students, but the only time we hear news from the industry is when there is a tragedy. What about the thousands that have had their lives changed for the better. We dont hear that news because its not shocking enough to make the press. Who wants to hear a story of some kid doing school work and not smoking dope right? Shortbus you seem really interested, if you have any questions post them and Ill do what I can to answer them.

Most everyone that Ive met in the industry has good intentions. But you know what they say about good intentions.... I know Ive had my bad days and lost my temper at the highly-skilled expert button-pusher. And Ive been in some sketchy spots where I was asked to do things by someone above me that I didnt feel was right. Ive also not always agreed with SOPs (standard operating procedures) company protocols. But I took the job and if I dont like it I can leave (have) or get fired for being insubordinate (have). I dont really have any questions just like to read how different everyones experiences are.
...and use them as reminders of what its like to be someone else.
