answers to some of your questions....

will soon be available. Here is one tidbit for you.

The infamous "boxing Ring" in Cleveland was also in Ft Lauderdale, and was not a ring at all but gloves and kids boxing in front of the group. The idea for it came from Art Barker watching "rocky", Art fancing himself as a boxer and also being enamored with participation sports, including having one former golden gloves boxer on staff.

No connection to the Synanon boxing ring. Boggles the mind that this happened at the synanon and at the Seed with no direct connection.

Many of the postings on this website have been speculative because we have lacked a deep insider to set the record straight, one that has no axe to grind, no group to protect, no allegance to anyone but himself/herself and the truth.

sure would be nice if that person would come here and pay us a visit, eh?

WE had a Golden Gloves boxer in Cleveland, he was a shorter blond guy named Eric, very nice and softspoken. There was also a black kid boxed, who also sang 'Summertime' with a beautiful voice, and did a modern dance routine, if you can believe it, to 'Bye Bye Blackbird.' The black kid disappeared, Eric moved to Florida, his sister joined him, he eventually left and went to art school.

My oldcomer and I boxed, he popped me in the throat, and I lost my voice for days. Some say I lost my singing voice then too; or perhaps I alsways sucked, and didn't know it.

Some Cleveland trivia for ya!

In what context did they box in Cleveland and Ft. Lauderdale? Was it more like the softball games where everyone participated? Or was it something they reserved for kids who were on the hot seat like they did in Elan?

A government resting on the minority is an aristocracy, not a Republic, and could not be safe with a numerical and physical force against it, without a standing army, an enslaved press and a disarmed populace.

Mostly, it was for fun when I was there. Thought they might also put a 'tough guy' kid in to show him he's not so tough.

I recall only one boxing match, for fun. Vaguely. I was very new!

I have heard it both ways, one from a kid that boxed in cleveland and then the way it was explained the other day by JU.

John, maybe you can shed some light on that for us here.
