James E. Merrell, Attorney
Jim recently joined the firm, and brings a wealth of experience to the firm's practice. Jim received his law degree in 1996 from Brigham Young University?s J. Reuben Clark School of Law. Following his graduation, he clerked for the judges of the Davis County, Utah, Second District Court for two years, researching the law and advising the judges on numerous cases involving virtually every area of the law. After his judicial clerkship experience, Jim worked for two years as the City Prosecutor and Assistant City Attorney for Brigham City, Utah, where he gained considerable experience in criminal and municipal law matters. In Brigham City, Jim also maintained a private practice, where he represented clients in various legal areas, including personal injury, landlord-tenant, domestic, employment, construction and real property law. Most recently, Jim has spent the past three years as an associate, and then member, of a large Salt Lake City law firm, where his practice was mainly focused on complex civil litigation and transactional work involving the representation of clients with legal issues involving construction, real property, banking and other financial institutions. In his new practice, Jim is available, and has the experience, to assist and represent clients in virtually all types of civil and criminal litigation, as well as non-litigation matters involving real property, business, employment, and municipal, state and federal constitutional law. Jim and his family are active in and committed to the local community and other worthwhile organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, church, and local sports. Jim enjoys many interests and is a licensed commercial pilot.
