Define grown up for us. Does it mean vote, pay bills, grocery shop, have relationsips, etc.? Well I do all of this and more but I also talk about my childhood at times which isn't unusual for an adult to do. Your childhood is what defines you as an adult. We aren't all of a sudden grown ups and should forget everything that has happened to us up until this point in our life. We are talking (whining) about our childhoods. As children we had no choice no say in what most of our parents did with us but as grown ups we do. You are assuming a lot to think we were cussing our parents out or doing something bad to be sent to such places. You are also assuming we wanted to go home or that we were afraid of work or snow.

Assume makes an ass of u and me.
