Ummm ... because their parents don't want them to come home?

But why?

If this is an academic program, why can't the kids go home for the summer?  

I don't get it. What's there to do at the Whitmore all summer?  Sit at a computer and post on Fornits?

That's pitiful. At least let the kid go stay with a relative or a friend.  What's the harm in that?

A kid ran to DCFS and "claimed abuse?" Do believe a full investigation substaintiated this boy's abuse, and CHARGES were filed against Cheryl Sudweeks. That goes beyond a "claim" of abuse!
