yerp, what's up to everyone. finally saw the page, read some of the comments. yea, i signed out, but after all that has happened since i have been home, has only made me stronger and smarter. i am a foreman at a landscaping company now. guess being a senior shingle helped pay off. lol. Family is good, for those who know my sisters, hillary graduated rutgers college of engineering and is working on her masters out in colorado. Rachael just graduated high school and is now starting her freshman year at Rowan University. Parents are good, they respect me, and understand better why i did the things i did, and that i have learned from them despite not having received a bronze diploma saying that i am "now fit to re enter society". anyways, nice to see a lot of familiar names in the guestbook. feel free to leave me an email if u wanna keep in touch.

I was reading guestbook postings and I'm not going to get into how I personally felt about my Elan experience, but those who knew me know that I had a worse experience than most, I can't say THE worst because I avoided the ring, even though I came close with Jenn F. and Tasha W. Anyways, contrary to the uncreative stereotype induced rumor after I first left, I AM NOT an alcoholic, and I'm in school and working part-time. I live at home because Elan guilt only goes so far to get me an appartment if I live 30 minutes away by train. It worked for 2 years, so I got something positive out of my Elan experience. If anyone has the phone numbers or e-mails for Erin S. and Maryam A., please forward them. I found a whole bunch of people I want to hear from, so I'll be emailing them within the next few weeks.

update on dillon heyliger.

he graduated from basic training, fort leonard wood ms. last week. starts hazmat training today. signed up for airborne last week and is scared but looking forward to everything. sounds great, great positive attitude, has become very spiritual (this from a kid who was a confirmed atheist). putting money away for college and wants to go to school in boston. he will be home for christmas and has already put elan's stamp on his military experience by telling me when kids don't own up to being responsible for themselves. sharpshooter badge. 70 sit ups and 80 push ups in two minutes. 2 mile run in under 12 minutes. missed getting his outstanding PT badge by one sit up. thanks to all his friends and housemates for putting him on the right path.

What's up? I was in Elan when things were BAD. I was called "Cancer" by Joe Ricci and cut out of the House along with 6-7 other residents as we were all the fuck-ups: Ray Mesiah, Earl Vlasquez, Nancy Enis, Sean Ricci, and others..Drop me a line. I just found this site. I just finished serving a 10 year stretch in prison...

Okay, I thought i signed here recently, but i guess not. The main purpose of this post is to greet the Elan Alum freshmen to college - i'm located in the Boston area and am a senior, so if you want someone to talk to or show you around (and you're in or near Boston), drop me an email and we can definitely set something up. News? I'll be graduating this year with a BA in Computer Science and a minor in Business Management. Right now i'm actually done with my major so i get to take lots of cool electives - basically all kinds of stuff i've always wanted to know like sign language, graphic design, and probably photography in the spring. Hope everyone's keeping happy :smile: Feel free to give me a shout.

-Dave

People I would love to hear from or hear about include Derrick T, Nick C, Donavan S, Jake H, Mark K, Mark G, Emily G, Tony G, David Zig, Linda T (staff), Lori L (staff), Doug F, Sam B, Cory B, and Sandy T. It's a long list, but these dam people meant the world to me back then - even if I didn't show it. I miss those long walks during the fall months with Candy (staff). Spending hours talking with Cory B. by the soccer field, and blaming Donavan S for ripping out my hospital corners during inspection - I forgive you:) Love You Guys.

I've been up at school for a week or so. It's not quite as I pictured it, but I love it none the less. I have one professor with a stick lodged up her ass but other than that they are all nice. I hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble... as best as possible.

Hi guys, It's been almost a year since I signed this damn thing. I've become a fully entrenched, cigar-smoking, order-barking managing editor and I love it. I still write semi-regularly, had a couple articles on the Moxley Web site, just wrote my first political endorsement this week and have been a guest on local radio a lot lately. No Paula Zahn lately, but I've still had fun. That Skakel trial was an emotional experience to cover, even from a journalist's perspective. The verdict took my breath away. I was happy to meet Liz Arnold and Sarah Petersen, two Elan grads from the 70s, outside the courtroom.

It upsets me that former staff can't talk to former residents now and that staff refuse to get back to former residents. It's a true insult when some of our families paid enough tuition to that place for Joe Ricci to buy three Mercedes Benzes, yet they can't even return our phone calls.

Chris Silver, if you're out there, I tried e-mailing you and you never responded. I still view you as a very close friend after all these years and would kill to hear from you. Anyway, it was nice to see you sign the guestbook.

I want to say hi to all my friends too. Good luck to Kelley, and hi to Rachel, Maren, Claire, Tom Peters (nice to get that call from you), Sara, Mary, Rich, Ken, Dave Lorch, Louis, Julie and anyone I forgot. God bless.

Pete P.S. -- Thea Yatras, I am very worried about you, please contact me if you read this.

Elan was an experience never to forget. I think it was that way for all of us. Whether a bitter or a sweet memory, one is not able to forget Elan. The 'Rings', 'VR's', 'House Meetings', etc can be looked back upon with a smile or a frown, but one always looks back. Hello to all Alumni, especially those from 1989 - 1991, the best years of Elan history. ciao

been home in jersey for the summer and its been nuts,been out to cali and just working,relaxing and hanging out with old and new friends.all great kids,seen a couple old elan buddies and keep in touch with plenty more,gotta say its kinda a lonly road cuz not having been around here a long time separates you fromtight bonds but ive found plenty of fullfillment in having a very wonderful and honest relationship with myself, started along with the good old catholic religion to keep my morals strong and straight,and stick with all that is good.been sticking pretty much with the irish and italian kids around here that are into the services and do volunteer for fire depts.going into the ARMY myself Sept 5th for 3 years, MOS is Chemical Operations Specialist,NBC,nuclear,biological and chemical-so after the ARMY ill get myself into a fire dept. cant wait for basic, kicking ass! think im gunna go for RANGERs training,hope to be sent out to europe somewhere near ireland so i can live up mydreams,some day ill be living there,its so fucking beautiful.elan was a great experiance but i dont miss it much, it was hard for me to really get involved cuz i got kinda stuck on just wanting to move on and stop feeling like a screw up.but its great to be loving life and having alot of respect, got my first tatoo,real nice!,and hope to get one more before the services.only troubles so far are old friends dying,uncle terminally ill with cancer and some racial clashes, but other than that keeping it deep and keeping it proud,just dont forget the struggles!keep the faith, And shepards we shall be for Thee,my Lord, for Thee and power have desended forth from Thy hand our feet shall swiftly carry out Thy command and will will flow a river forth onto Thy and teeming with souls shall it ever be I n-ainm an athar, agus an mhic, agus an sprid naoimh. a'ime'in

Um, Okay! I'm really happy i signed out Cuz i hated that place, and i hate tha fact that tha staff were telling me i was goin to graduate but then leave me hangin, but anyway. THa program was tough, i didnt have many students help me it was mostly staff, i was always in trouble and missy was always there for me, then came along clare towards tha end of me stay. i never got along with marc, pete and britt were there but not as mush as missy and Jamie oh i love him he was the best staff member i ever had, then he left so i felt i had no one in tha program except missy, anyway, yeah im doin really bad and im always kicked out of my house, but i always have a place to live, my friends r nice to me. i dont know what else to say

Hey everyone. I hope is everyone is well. Ia m still in college. Taking it one day at a time. Life right now is a great HIGH. Great things are happening> I have learned since graduating elan. I have been through some pain and I held on and I learned theres always that light at the end of an experience that you always end up in a better place and gain more wisdom. Hopefully, GOD willing I will be working as a counselor at a rehab. All I have to say aboutElan its just another place where it will help you only if you want it, willingness is what did it for me. Elan had its negative points to it. It saved my ass for a couple years. I would be instititionlized or dead. So thank you and everyone take of your selves. Amanda congrats on graduating and Hello to Peter Moore I love you like a bro. Hello Rachel I miss you. I love you too thanks alot for everything I know we havent talked I lost your number. Hi y'all. Things are terrific. I just had a baby March 25th named Huxley (Huck) Parker Preefer-Moore (9 pounds 10 ounces, try getting that one out.) I live in the greatest city in the world with my partner. We run a hip vegan eatery in the west village which explains part of why my son was so big. New York Press just ran an article on us called "The New Gay Couple." I think it's online, but you can also check our business out at sacredchow.com. After Elan graduation and before the business ownership I was attending Sarah Lawrence College being a musician/computer geek/academic. I haven't signed this guestbook for a while. I lived down south for a while in Asheville, NC. I am glad I moved back, but there sure are no terrorists trying to blow up anything in western North Carolina, that's for damn sure. So now, between diapers and onesies, I schmooze with the rich and famous and live like an aristocrat. so email me. Happy Pride Month.

Hello... Its time i wrote in here again... Well.. I'm finally back in college for the summer at Brandeis University... I took a lot of time off as my head was messed up and my mother was very sick but I'm glad to be back and I'm going through that wonderful phase of missing all the wonderful people I met at Elan.. I've turned into a Raver... so my world is now completely different but I'm very happy with where i am in life.. and I've really learned to become independent... I miss so many o

Well, that is creative. You must be very technologically adept. People go to school for many years to learn to cut and paste.

Sure, all you have to do is view source and cut and paste. OR use an older browser. Anyone knows that. Do you think you are a hacker?

Well then lets see you try to copy something from his site, post it here once you completed the task.

No problem genius.

This website is a community for the many graduates and other alumni of Elan and Elan School in Maine.

This web site is neither pro or anti Elan. It is not the purpose of this site to discuss the rellative merits of Elan. In fact, it is not about Elan at all.

 The reason ElanAlum.com is here is for the graduates, other alumni and families of Elan. It is dedicated to the unique experience we all
share and that nobody else can everunderstand.

This is not a place to blame all your problems on
 an old experience. It is DEFINITELY not a place to vent. Venting should be done to a         qualified psychiatrist. This is a place to heal.

It isn't hard to do at all. Don't you think Ken knows that? Any trained chimpanzee could do it.
I asked you if you thought you were a hacker. you never answered. Do you think you are a hacker?

I'll tell you what. You tell me how I got the real time current weather condition on the front page of the WWF forum home page and post the what you think the suspected code is here. If you are correct, you may reserve the right to act like you actual know something about the WEB. But until then, please try and refrain from bragging about you cut and past techniques.

Ken has is a java script that disables right clicking.
It?s easily bypassed by highlighting the text or picture you want to copy and entering ctrl-C on your keyboard.
But we all knew that?right?

how about this:

Current Weather:

    30 °F

     and Clear

or whatever the weather is, is written to the page by a CGI program, server side include or ASP running on the server.

the code isn't on this page. in fact, the page itself doesn't exist until it iw written by the server each time it is accessed? Did I do okay?

Well, no you did not. This is not a cut and paste exercise. And it wasn't for you to see if you could find the code that does it. The question was, that if you were to do this, what would you do? what would your code be. cmon man, you are a hacker show me what ya got!

By you explaining that it is a cgi or asp (which the language is neither, can't you tell what it is by the file extension), does not show you inelegance as a individual other then you know how to cut and paste.

Heres another little tidbit posted in Kens site that apparently, the majority of those here, having the IQ of a half empty bag of pork rinds, really dont concern yourselves with.

I am having a bit of difficulty understanding the pupose of this thread. Is it an effort to expose people? To share personal information such as email addresses in an act of defiance?
Is the purpose of the post to identify who is or was affiliated with a site not popular to the group here?  Man, who gives a fuck? and who in thier right mind would think anyone would give a fuck about the sniveling whinning boohooers who post thier drivel here?

I was abused, I was mistreated....fuck!
YOU WERE FORCED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS!, and your dumb asses are bitter.

I read about how someone, after attending Elan, took drugs and jumped out a window cripling themselves. I actullay found the story kinda funny, with respect to ELan being at all responsible for the decision to jump out a fucking window! Paleeze.

If you all have such strong cases, talk to fucking attorney, why waste your time here.

The language is perl. and there is no code on that page. it is generated just like the page is when the cgi and the page is loaded.

what you said was "You tell me how I got the real time current weather condition on the front page of the WWF forum home page and post the what you think the suspected code is here."

what you asked is how YOU got the weather on the front page NOT how i would do it. Wiuld you like me to write a script that generates that data?

`Course, I'm just guessing. But I thought the point was to annoy Ken. Is that so wrong??? ::bigsmilebounce::

Hmm, good question. You aparently give something, if not a fuck, because you keep reading and posting. As for whether or not you're in your right mind, well who can say? I suppose it's right for you, and that's all that matters, isn't it?  Have a pleasant day :wave:

If ya feel that you got it in ya, why go ahead.. :silly:

Listen, here is the thing. I just can't stand a wise ass that thinks that he is God cause he can caputre text of of a web page. I like the idea that it was intentionly done (As least I think) to piss off KEN. and from what I have seen so far it probably has. :wave:

Hi Ken.....

For anyone who is interested, here is how the data is collected to get the weather....

  $fh=fopen("http://www.wunderground.com/US/PA/Pittsburgh/KAGC.html","r");

  while (!feof($fh)){

  $weatherpage .= fread($fh,1024);

  }

  $weatherpage = strip_tags($weatherpage);

  $weatherpage =substr($weatherpage,strpos($weatherpage,"Observed"),strlen($weatherpage));

  $current_temp =substr($weatherpage,(strpos($weatherpage,"Temperature")+11),(strpos($weatherpage,"/ ")-(strpos($weatherpage,"Temperature")+11)));

  $current_conditions =substr($weatherpage,(strpos($weatherpage,"Conditions")+11),((strpos($weatherpage,"Visibility")-strpos($weatherpage,"Conditions"))-11));

Not attractive but it works.

As for Kens pages,( ::puke:: ) the same thing can be done. If a person wanted to, they could mirror his whole site, actualy doing it in realtime, all the while changing any words or phrases on the fly as they see fit. You could do it in PHP,ASP,PERL or Cold Fusion, Hell you could even do it in C if you realy wanted to spend the time. All this to the point that if you put it out there, copyright or not you can't stop anyone from taking what ever they want whenever they want.

In any event I dont want to drag this on any further as ther are some asshole that Have arived that I would like to pimpslap..... ::armed::

Later
