Groovy you should understand a lot of people here have been through hell. And one thing about the military, it's not teenagers there against their will, and they are not yelled at for even *wanting* to talk with people outside of the military, including their parents. It's really a totally different deal, IMO.

But I know you didn't mean anything...it's just not the same thing.

The military, unlike the programs, is voluntary.
Soldiers, unlike porgram kids, have free, unrestricted communication with the "outside".
Soldiers, unlike program kids, can get a proper education.
Soldiers, unlike program kids, have access to medical care.
Soldiers, unlike program kids, are free to think and say whatever they want about the service-- and they won't be punished or reprimanded for it.
OverLordd:
Ok grovey, I guess I misunderstood you.
to that list I would add
Soliders, unlike program kids, get paid!

I just wanted to add that at the Youth ChalleNGe Academy my son receives $15.00 a week stipend. To learn how to budget and manage finances. The reason I wanted to write in this area is so that people realize there are very few programs that do what this YCA does. You are right they get everything they need including a mentor that follows them for one full year after he's home. For anyone who wants to know more the address is

By the way I really would welcome all your opinions on this. Believe me I struggled to try and make the right decision. Also, there is a website that lists a ton of rehabs and troubled youth sites with all the info... it's http://www.focusas.com when I was searching and called our local Juvenile Justice they told me about it. If there are bad ones in there someone should know about it.
