Brat Camp Contestants Announced

Feel better since you said that... though my boy says no military for him. Isn't the military (according to some friends) just a different form of brain washing? Is there a good form of Brain Washing? If so, my brothers all three of them weren't brain washed, they say. But they can make a really nice bed and do their own laundry!

If you say anything like your last post ever again, you and I will have words do you understand? Dont you dare EVER COMPARE THE MILITARY TO ONE OF YOUR CAMPS!!! The military is for people serving their country and laying their lives on the line for people they care about and dont even know. There is not a good form of brain washing, SO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT THE ARMY!!!

WHOA...I didn't say that I believe it is...cause that is where my son is...HELLO! at the National Guard Academy. Dude, you took this totally the wrong way. I am from a Military Family, My husband is retired Navy Seal...give me a break.
I read somewhere on this site about brain washing tantics and someone somewhere or a link from here mentioned that all phases of retraining has brain washing. I was making a joke with you. I love my country and what it stands for. I was saying that sarcasticlly. I think the military is the best thing for anyone. If my son were to choose that as an option he would have my full support.
Lighten up on me for God's sake!
Three brothers all were in the Military... Marines, Navy and Air Force...
PS: This has nothing to do with Camps...
No need to be so hostile..[ This Message was edited by: groovy4u on 2005-07-13 13:14 ]

I understand that and I totally agree...I've read everything I could today on this site. I think it is an awesome, informational, and much needed site. I have friends who sent their kids to some of these programs in Florida... I know it's serious, but you apparantly took my tone the wrong way.

Groovy you should understand a lot of people here have been through hell. And one thing about the military, it's not teenagers there against their will, and they are not yelled at for even *wanting* to talk with people outside of the military, including their parents. It's really a totally different deal, IMO.

The military, unlike the programs, is voluntary.

Soldiers, unlike porgram kids, have free, unrestricted communication with the "outside".

Soldiers, unlike program kids, can get a proper education.

Soldiers, unlike program kids, have access to medical care.

Soldiers, unlike program kids, are free to think and say whatever they want about the service-- and they won't be punished or reprimanded for it.

I just wanted to add that at the Youth ChalleNGe Academy my son receives $15.00 a week stipend. To learn how to budget and manage finances. The reason I wanted to write in this area is so that people realize there are very few programs that do what this YCA does. You are right they get everything they need including a mentor that follows them for one full year after he's home. For anyone who wants to know more the address is
http://www.ngycp.org
By the way I really would welcome all your opinions on this. Believe me I struggled to try and make the right decision. Also, there is a website that lists a ton of rehabs and troubled youth sites with all the info... it's http://www.focusas.com when I was searching and called our local Juvenile Justice they told me about it. If there are bad ones in there someone should know about it.

I hear ya. I don't understand it either. Especially child protection agencies. They are always ready to take a child away from what they feel is an abusive family environment. Why are they not doing anything about this? This is too disturbing for me to comprehend.
