Jail, hell no, they get someting better. Remember when that was tried in Waco, TX. I think we all know how that turned out.

Good point on our civil war.  States rights of determination and rule was THE issue then, and as was noted, the FEDS need to read their history.  The western states have spoken about the MJ issue, and the people are not being respected by the fed.  When the DEA makes an arrest for MJ distribution, they undercut their own authority, as their power comes from the governed. Keep doing it long enough, and federal agents will be unable to work in those areas as the locals will show who is in control.
Most southerners were not slave owners, but most southerners who were able fought visciously for the RIGHT to determine commerce, tax and STATES issue without the federal govt intruding.
I shall end with a sorely neglected part of our constitution, the 10th amendment:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people"
This was the framers way of saying "we don't need or want a large federal govt."  Each state can determine most everything itself.
Very few things were EVER intended to be federal crimes.  Treason, impeachment, piracy on high seas was it.
If only we paid as much attention to #10 as to #1 and #2, many of our current troubles would vanish.

Where did you here this about 1 hour and 80 million people dying? I am in central florida, I have heard nothing of this. Please tell me where you heard this and how relevant is the source. I figure if the terrorist strike it will be around or on Thanksgiving day. I hope not, Getting back to civil wars, my great great grandad's name is on the succession to the union. His name was Joshua Adams, he was a senator to the state during the civil war. My family owned land as far as the eye could see and did own plenty of slaves. I am appalled by racism, I have told my dad plenty of times to cut the jokes at the dinner table about racism. I think I may have gotten through, but it's tough to crack an old cracker. I am proud that my relatives defended what they beleived in, also we kick the hell out of the north when they moved on our propery up there in Olustee, that's where my grandma was born, now she is 102 years of age. Even I ponder such a great thing.

This just turned up in my list mail this morning.

http://freedomtoexhale.com/eventpics.htm

I've seen a lot of news and event info about the MMJ clubs, raids and local responses in California. I was surprised to find it so hard to find in the Media Awareness Archive or elsewhere. It's really amazing to me that these events haven't been making headlines all over the country! But here we are, left with the illusion of solidarity when, in fact, the Western states are in revolt against DC on one of the Feds' most cherished issues.

I guess I assumed everyone knew about this stuff.  I live in San Francisco, where we have legalized medical marijuana clubs.  In fact they are legal all over California.  Every once in a while the DEA come to town and make a big show of confiscating all the mj from the clubs and shutting them down.  Then they leave and the clubs are started back up again.  I personally know a couple of people who have prescriptions for mj and use these clubs.  One suffers from multiple sclerosis and it really helps her.

In Santa Cruz, the DEA pulled that illegal raid shit and the city of Santa Cruz filed a lawsuit against them.  That happened just a few months ago.  I don't know what the status of that suit is at this time.

If enough people stand up against the feds at the same time, there isn't a whole lot they can do.  Lucky for us they can't be everywhere at all times to police our actions, although that may change in the next generation or two.

Organizations like the DEA have no respect whatsoever for the citizens of our country or for the laws we voted into place.

On the subject of terrorism, how many times a week since 9/11/01 have you read in the paper or seen on network news that a terrorist attack is "imminent".  Do you really believe these warnings?  Do you really believe that Iraq has long-range nuclear or chemical weapons capability?  Do you see the connection between Russia, France, the U.S., and Iraq's oil reserves?

Do you really believe our government leaders, most of whom are multi-millionaires, really have any interest in middle and lower income citizens (i.e. the majority of the U.S.) and the daily issues they deal with?  I don't believe they do.  How many of them do you think really appreciate and respect the spectacular natural wonder of our continent?  Apparently very few.

Back to state's rights.  In the words of Bush, "While I believe there's a role for the federal government, it's not to impose its will on states and local communities."  Interesting how he, in support of Daimler-Chrysler, had the California Zero Emissions act overturned this week.

I'm tired of being lied to.

Perhaps one day it will look better for Florida. We have two Bushes to contend with, and both have little pricklies on and around them. I don't forsee the drug policies getting any better in the near future. The Republicans love to use the drug war as a passionate stance for there cause. It started with Reagan and how the contra war was supported by drug profits tha tReagan allowed to come in the country. Why do you think the price of toot has gone down since 1981. Marijuana prices have esculated. Back in the late 70's a gram of coke was $100. Now you can get a gram for $35-$50 street price depending on who you know and how close you are to the source. I remember in the 70's when marijuana prices were $20-$25 a lid or ounce. Now they are between $90-$100. an ounce for commercial grade pot. They started the war it is up to us to finish it. Legalize and free the people.

I hear Costa Rica's real nice any time of year. Mexico's got great weather, but there's that Socialist government to contend with. Costa Rica's more Libertarian, hence more free.
