Mary, yes, indeed, some of us DO understand very well what it's like to wonder and worry about your teenaged kid out there somewhere. But some of us also understand something of what they may be running from!



Mary, this is the really important point I hope you'll begin to understand. That sense of security and safety you had while your kid was in a program was an ILLUSION! You didn't get phone calls and emails from your kid for awhile. None of these places allow contact w/ family till the kid is broken enough to stick to the script. Instead, you heard from a family rep at AIR and then from Cheryl or some other at the Whit. They told you pretty lies and made you feel all better. But you won't believe your own son unless he tows that party line.



Bottom line is this. As we don't know where the kids are, we can hope that they're in contact w/ someone who cares and will give them the hand up they need to escape the cult and, if necessary, escape the control of their brainwashed parents. We can hope that they're having fun, catching up on sleep, eating enough and getting their heads sorted out. And, of course, we all hope that they're not being taken in by any shady characters who might take advantage of young ppl in vulnerable positions.



If they go back to the Whit, we know to a dead certainty they'll pay. So I hope they don't get caught. I hope their parents come to understand that they're no less safe now than they were last week, and possibly a good deal better off. But few things in this life suck quite so much as not being able to trust your own parents.
