Ginger, I hereby give permission and request for you to take down my rant accusing Craig and ALA of violating the letter and spirit of the law by removing/keeping US citizen teens from the US against their will.

I misremembered the law, and do not in fact know whether or not that action on their part is illegal.

I'm not trying to hide my gaffe, I just try to make my criticisms of people accurate ones, those inadvertently weren't, and if they *can* go away I think it's the right thing for me to do to request that they do so.

I know I was in anonymously, as I am now, but the IP addresses should match.

In any case, if anyone else should ask you to remove those, you have my permission and request to do so, so you don't have to worry about violating your laudable free speech principles if you ditch them.

Thank you and sorry for the administrative hassle,

Timoclea

Ok, gone. It's not a huge administrative task. But understand that I sometimes go days or weeks w/o looking at these forums.

Also, I'm not quite sure where to find the statute, but I am pretty certain that it's not legal to prevent a kid (or an adult for that matter) in a foreign nation from communicating w/ the consulate. Now, a whole lot of good it would do them anyway if they get there and find DPNA already owns the consolate. But even they would have to respond in some way if they were to get a whole lot of complaints or requests for service.

The trouble is, we're talking about kids as young as 12 or 14 years old. How do we go about educating America's children to the ins and outs of protecting themselves from their own parents and step parents?

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.
