You've got to be fucking kidding me.

Vanessa, I am so sorry for your experience at VCA. I too went to VCA. I am horrified by the things Ive read online about VCA. I however know most are completely unfounded and fabricated. Did I like my stay at VCA? NO! Do I look back w/ a fond eye? NO! It wasnt supposed to be a place we liked. It was meant to be a place of reconditioning. A chance for us to be plucked out of our drug,over-sexed,provocative ways.. and give us a chance to dust off and redirect our feet. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to look back on my short life up until then and see just how many bad choices I was making and the empty feeling they all gave me. I decided to let the Lord take charge.  After leaving... things were bumpy and I didnt always keep my eyes focused on Christ. BIG MISTAKE! His grace was sufficient and after meeting my NOW husband we have three beautiful kids, Home, good memories and a great church we belong to. I love you as a friend and I dont even know you! Just know God loves you so much more... and is always there for you. If you want to turn to anyone.. TURN TO HIM!!! Jocelyn

This is one of my favorite books.  I homeschool my kids because I did not like what I saw in my oldest daughter's old school.  I know it sounds dramatic, but I really did feel like she was in a prison or boot camp.  All the lining up, strict schedules, bells and whistles -- it just really felt wrong.  I'd have to write a huge long thing to explain all of my reasoning, so I guess I'll just leave it at that.

We have girls in our Yahoo group who report similar, if not worse, conditions than before.  I think the newest girl in our group got out in September.

Also, I left in 1995 and didn't get the itch to come forward for 10 years.    PTSD is a bitch.

Dorothy, I remember you.  I buddied you.  I remember what happened to you when you were a new girl in Dorm 3.  (I don't want to put your story here without your permission, although I think it's definitely worth telling.)  You were very headstrong then, and I hope that you still are now.  It's a good character trait, not one that was appreciated at VCA.  I can hardly remember how I treated you.  I hope not terribly.

We have a Yahoo group with over 100 former students, and a Myspace group too.  Karrie Palmer is in the Myspace group.  April Sweet is in the Yahoo group.  (She's expecting her 2nd baby.)

Hi, My name is Dorothy (Foster) Delaney, I attended VCA from Dec. 1994 Ė June 1996.

I woke up from a nap this afternoon with VCA heavily on my mind. Iíd looked in the past for people I went to VCA with but really didnít get to far, until today, Iím glad to see Iím not the only one who walked away thinking and that was supposed to help me? Well in all fairness I learned some of my best fake it until you make it moves from VCA, but besides that, I didnít agree with a lot of when on there or of what I saw. However, I miss the girls dearly, Carrie Palmer, April Sweet, I remember you! I worked yard crew with you! Gosh so many girls.

VCA is an experience that only those that were forced through it can understand. Iíd love to talk to anyone for anytime at VCA.

Best to all,

Forgot to log in.  That was me.

Is this Vanessa P.?  This is Candice.  Hi.  I'll talk to you more in the Yahoo group!

He's a douchebag that gives a good band a bad name.

You're talking about different Palmers.  The Palmers that this thread was started about are the Palmers that own VCA in Florida.

And speak for yourself about why "we" were sent away.  You don't know anyone else's situation but your own.

Perhaps we could be more efficient if we listed things they CAN do.  At the one I went to, we could:

Read the Bible
Talk about the Bible
Write letters to our parents

That's about it.

Yum cocktails...I'm jealous because I'm pregnant...and I'm 12, and the prostitution only pays enough for crack.

I'm going to try really hard not to continue this stupidity, but I just keep hearing one stupid thing after another from you.

Obviously I wasn't talking about marijuana.

Also, "one" (Why do you talk like that, as if you have some sort of wisdom to bestow upon all of us?) should try to look at the middle of the spectrum and forget this nonsense about the extremes.

I'm not sure anyone benefits from using illegal drugs, although I don't doubt that some come away unharmed, or even more mature.  I would say that this is IN SPITE OF drug use, and not BECAUSE OF drug use.

Anyway, we're talking about apples and oranges.

I am not sure if anyone is ever kidnapped in the middle of the night and locked in a crackhouse for 1-3 years and forced to smoke crack.  I'm sure it    could    happen, though.
