Actually, this myth about insanity is one of many myths from the fountain of misinformation about LSD. The myth of
anyone who took acid 7 times or more is legally insane was a myth that did not start in Straight.I had heard that myth
from friends long before going into Straight, although Staff there was misinformed enough to continue to spread that
kind of information. I've done extensive research on LSD and the facts are:LSD does NOT kill brain cells. LSD leaves a
perons body quickly throgh urine. They used to say it stays in your system forever in your spinal fluid or whatever, this
is not true.LSD is not physically addictive.However, some people could cut LSD with other dangerous chemicals, that can
be a real danger. Alot of verry successful people like Paul McCartney and Bernie Taupin have done acid and it seems
to have enhanced their artistic creativeaty. I have had good trips and verry bad trips. The real tragedy is the fact that
LSD is still highly illegal. People are in prison for dealing acid and that is sad. In fact possesion of large amounts of acid can
be a verry real jailable offense. The lies, myths and misinformation about acid is the stuff of legend. I would not blanketley
recomend it to anyone or for that matter demonize it. I think incarceration in Straight caused all kinds of psycological damage more severe than acid for alot of people.Remember the extereme paranoia and crazy "head games" people

ACTUALLY I DONT REMEMBER LESLIE MURDEN AS BEING EXTREMELEY ABUSIVE AT ALL. IN FACT I FEEL A STRANGE
FONDNESS FOR HER. NONETHELESS, IN SPITE OF HER HAVING GONE THROUGH THERE HERSELF, SHE HAD TO HAVE HAD SOME AWARENESS OF THE BRAINWASHING AND DANGER BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT SHE WAS A
EXECUTIVE STAFF MEMBER FOR SO LONG. THIS ALSO BRINGS TO MIND THE BIGGER QUESTION ABOUT THE
BRAINWASHING ISSUE: HOW MUCH DID EXECUTIVE STAFF KNOW AND CONDUCT THE OBVIOUS BRAINWASHING?
THIS QUESTION HAS REMAINED UNANSWERED AND IT REALLY BOTHERS ME. I DONT BELIEVE IN BITTERNESS OR
ANGER BUT SOME EXPLANATION SEEMS TO BE APPROPRIATE CONSIDERING ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WERE HURT.

A few more thoughts I'd like to add: If there are staff out there who still believe in Straight and feel that what they did was
right<they should not be expected to apologize,for they cant apologize if they are unrepentent.There are probably alot
of staff that know now that they were wrong but just dont care, and I dont expect a response from them. I thInk
Nixon could have been alot more direct and apologetic about Watergate, but that man was disturbed.
In the end History will be the judge. I think the lesson learned is to be as kind and respectful to everyone we meet,
everyday! We never know what someone is going through or what difference a kind word or smile can make.

Glen Steepleton  was a total duface of a staff member.I'm sorry he killed himself and I dont hate the guy but he had no
business whatsoever counseling people {ofcourse unqualified dufaces were the norm there} He had me "Called In" to group
when I was nearing the end of fifth phase>Why?He said I was "putting off Positive" because I was enthusiastic in group,
he thought I said "Love you" too loud. I saw it as being my job to be enthusiastic and to help lower phasesers,I thought thats what fifth phasors were supposed to do-and he busts me for having a good attitude.So there I was "called in", missing
school and days off for having a caring and enthusiasic attitude.When I asked to be "uncalled In" Glen said "Fine, your
uncalled in,Im tired of trying to help you, Evan.Take your days off!I give you five days and youll be back on drugs!" So I went
back to school, took my days off, come back to group and they blow me away for taking my days off after Glen the all mighty said I was on my way "back to drugs"in 5 days.So then I'm called in again and sat in group and every day Glen got
there he would mess with me- all because I was trying to be enthusisasitic and trying to help other phasors in my own somewhat brainwashed way.When he saw that I wasnt 100 percent under his spell and not buying his bullshit he couldent
handle it.So he was getting paid to harass me.He actually told me that he would have me started over but that executive
staff would not let him. I have worked in construction, the nightclub and bathouse industry and done alot of food service and
I've had to deal with bosses who were totally unreasonable, but never in my professional life have I had to deal with
total dufaces like Glen Steepleton.I can laugh at it now, laugh at how stupid Straight was and how it was another planet,  but it is not funny that so many, such as Glen have killed themselves and its not funny that so many are too depressed
to laugh. In that place you tried to do "right" and get in trouble, do "wrong" and get in trouble and people were getting
paid for hurting people. Springfield staff in the mid to late 80's were totally a bad joke. Sorry for rambling but when I think
back on how WEIRD it was I get to rambling, I mean that place was weirder than any acid trip and I've had plenty.
Thank you for letting me express this some 20 years later. I'm not "walking wounded" Im just amazed at the weirdness.

I know all this was posted long ago,but I remember you Michael. You were always a nice guy. I remember you liked the Grateful Dead, so do I. Some people in group gave you crap because you could see ghosts.Alot of people see ghosts/spirits-
but ofcourse in there people were unaccepting of people who are different and individual in any way.I also remember you
saying you wanted to be a priest.I am happy for your success and your role in the Episcopal Church.Its good to know that you
never gave up on your dreams. I also recall mentioning something about the Book of Revelation to you in the infirmary, and you recommended instead the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In those days I did not feel well physically or
emotionally, I was scared and confused alot but you were a beaken of light in that verry dark place.I have totally moved on
with my life but it is still so WEIRD when I think about it.Brainwashing,torture,manipulation in the name of rehabilitation is just criminal.The Reagan administration should have focused alot more on the AIDS crisis that was killing so many in the
80's, instead of selling weapons to Iran and promoting Straight and running around telling people to "Just say No" Congradulations again on your ordination. Love and Peace- Evan Rodgers
