I would reccomend to those who actually have something to say to start moderating some of this stuff.  It's out of control.

I'd give you a voltaire quote coupled with a lecture on the importance of free speech and the tyranny of the majority, but something tells me you're not likely to care very much.  If you feel that one person using an offensive term represents the whole board (that would mean you too), then the one using the "n" word isn't the only one being bigoted here.  As much as controlling the dialogue here might be useful in terms of convincing parents, it would also necessitate somebody to be in charge of what is and what is not kosher to say... and there goes somebody's liberty.  It's better to have nobody decide, and let everybody speak their peace, regardless of how offensive or hate filled.

Sorry if you get offended by what you read here.  So do I.  So does Ginger.  So does everybody, but not everybody agrees on what is offensive.  What if the person in control was somebody who didn't agree with you, and felt your own speech was offensive?   It's not the job of the medium here, the forum, the paper on which words are printed, to make that distinction.  While there are moderated sections of fornits (such as the CAN forum and the Facilities Q&A forum) this isn't one of them.  As stated in the disclaimer for this Troulbed Teen Industry forum "This is an uncensored, unmoderated forum where all viewpoints are both welcome and fair game for debate. It's a snap-shot of the Teen Help industry, and there's nothing inspiring or heart-warming about it. It's pretty damned ugly. Enter at your own risk."  You chose to enter.  Accept the consequences.  If you feel the need to control the environment and others around you...  well it's just not going to happen here.  This isn't a program.  Until you've been shut up like that, had every word controlled, i'm not sure you can understand just how vital unrestricted speech is to liberty.

While I agree freedom of speech is paramount in our world, I do not think free speech gives us a "free pass" for calling groups of people by derogatory names and labels that we have worked hard for years and years to try and erase.  When we allow groups of people to be attacked (yes, using the n word is an attack) we only take a step backward.  Honestly, what government official is going to listen to someone full of hate, spewing words like fuck you and stick it in your ass?  I am not here to battle you or anyone, as I stated, I came here looking for answers...what I found was hate.  For the record, I do understand what it's like to have every word I speak controlled.  I was involved in some very cultish activity for several years...I finally made my way out of it.  But I do not talk about my experiences with hate.  I could if I wanted to let them (the cult) win.  I refuse to be reduced to the use of ignorant speech.  Psy, you seem intelligent generally...at least the posts of yours I have read seem intelligent.  Do you not agree that this forum of hatred is going to fall on deaf ears?  How can I possibly convince someone NOT to send their child to a program if I am acting as a rebellious punk myself?  It really isn't rocket science.
