I am all for the foster care system we have in this country.  It is far superior to institutions like orphanages.  But aside from a few life threatening and sexual abuse cases 99% of the kids should be sent back to their own homes.  There is no need to have close to 600,00 kids in foster care.  The bio parents of some of these kids are scary, yes, and have difficulty taking care of themselves let alone kids, but the damage done by the foster care system is far,far worse.

 Beware of anyone saying:

The abuse is what's most important to me

I shall feel the sting of HOW Michelle was treated while in the care of others for the rest of my life.

I shall continue to stay focused on the abuse until something is done that will hold this industry accountable for treating children this way.

I could not have DONE TO Michelle what was DONE TO her and walked away a free person.  Why is it that in this industry it's acceptable to treat children this way?

Yes, I was lied to.  That hurts too.  People lie to get what they want, OR to cover up something they've done that is wrong.  The lies we were told are not what killed my daughter.  It was the "mindset" that was created, nurished, and fed to the people within this industry that killed my daughter.  

I too am grateful for the GAO report and what Congressman Miller hopes to accomplish.  

BUT, I believe that until this industry is held accountable at the same level a parent would be held accountable, kids will continue to be neglected, abused, molested and die in this industry.

A "mindset" cannot be regulated.  It needs to be weeded out.  How?  By holding the people with the "mindset" accountable for their actions.

Now, if this post ends up at the bottom of this forum, we know it must have hit a nerve.

As a survivor and a parent it is a double edge sword we now have to worry about CPS taking our Children away and placing them.

“When a Florida court sent Martin Lee Anderson to a county-run boot camp in 2006, the court didn’t intend to sentence him to death. But tragically, a death sentence is what Martin Lee Anderson got. The boot camp has since closed and the state of Florida has revised its policies. While these are welcome steps, Anderson’s family deserves every opportunity to see that those involved are held criminally responsible for their actions. That is why I am encouraged that the U.S. Justice Department is reviewing the case to see whether charges of federal criminal civil rights violations are possible.

“Sadly, this type of child abuse has happened before and continues to happen in many states throughout the U.S., because of a lack of sufficient safeguards to prevent it. Earlier this week, investigators for the Government Accountability Office reported that they had found thousands of allegations of child abuse and neglect in residential treatment programs for children, including boot camps and wilderness programs. In many cases where a child died, none of the adults entrusted with the child’s care was ever held responsible.

“Such cases show the urgent need for stronger laws. Congress will act to stop these abuses of children once and for all. I personally had 2 GM"S. The first one I came downstairs into the

So, back in the Corner I went.

The second one was for splitting, I never took it too seriously, because I split from the corner. They gave me a Giant pair of silver wings to wear at the end and sent me to Elan 8 from Elan 3.

When I ot to Elan 8 they immediately removed the wings. I was back in the corner within the week. :rofl:  Eliscu2
