One guy in my peer group said that if he made it to graduation, he'd stand on stage and say "F*CK EM ALL!!!!"
He didn't make it to graduation.

I think that would have been classic. Perhaps even most effective. A speech ridiculing the school would have been awesome at graduation.

A couple of people did some interesting acts of defiance right before graduation....my favorite was when a student copied another student's paper and turned it in as her own (got sent home the day prior to graduation, I think).

What did the rap boxes look like at the other cedu schools?
At cedu rs, it was a replica of the main lodge. I'm getting rap-stomach just thinking about it. UGH.

I'd highly recommend contacting your local battered women's shelter and asking for some referrals to experienced therapists/counselors.

Your child belongs at home, in a nurturing, loving environment. She needs to see that relationships aren't all abusive. You need to be the best role models you can be for her.

Please, please, take her out of the TBS. This is not the solution.

PM me if you'd like some info on resources for battered women.

For those who are curious- here are the words to Dana Dana:
Dona Dona

On a wagon bound for market
There's a calf with a mournful eye.
High above him there's a swallow
Winging swiftly through the sky.

 How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
 And half the summer's night.

     Dona dona dona dona
     Dona dona dona don
     Dona dona dona dona
     Dona dona dona don

"Stop complaining," said the farmer,
"Who told you a calf to be?
Why don't you have wings to fly away
Like the swallow so proud and free?"

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered
Never knowing the reason why.
But whoever treasures freedom,
Like the swallow must learn to fly

The latkas were the one year we decided we were going to do something for Hanukkah. I remember that too.

I don't remember the flavor of any of the food, but did gain 60 pounds there. My metabolism was ALL out of whack because I was anorexic so when I started eating normally, and all that was available to me was highly fattening food, OF COURSE I gained weight. I remember during the whole ordeal getting accused of purging (constantly being accused of it, nearly every rap.....what a pleasure). Um, excuse me, but if I was purging, woud I have gained 60 pounds??

At one point I was strongly encouraged to stay away from the kitchen. I wasn't put on bans from it, but I came close. The kitchen ladies I spoke with thought cedu was just weird, but they appreciated the job. Same with the guy who drove us to medical appts (and snuck us to baskin robbins!).

I don't ever remember there being a lack of food, but definitely a lack of healthy food or variety for those of us who chose not to eat particular foods.

It makes me sad.
Let me clarify- what makes me sad is that I was hoping that someone finally had some true remorse for what they had done. Doesn't appear to be so in this case. I can still hope that somewhere in the back of his mind he knows what he did was wrong. But I'm not holding my breath.

I have discussed cedu with at least one former staff member who did appear to feel badly about cedu.....but this particular staff member was always on the fringes when he did work there and didn't last very long.

I was Indiana Jane (instead of Jones). The whole thing was obnoxious in and of itself.
