seeing as it is run by a staff that are serious about their work, i don't really have access to that sort of information, but it wouldn't be right for me to talk about others, so i will only speak about myself. i ended up on the streets on and off for about a year...

News Items / july 2006 jail suicide
« on: June 22, 2007, 12:40:30 AM »
don't talk about devon... i knew him while i was fresh in, he took me home as my oldcomer, helped me out immensely in my start at a new life, and when he relapsed which caused by, not transitioning into AA or another 12-step program or any other method of staying clean and sober and practising what he was taught, and i found out he had committed suicide in jail.... what a horrible day, such a good kid sober, such a tragic fate because of this disease, that the American Medical Association along with countless other similar institutions recognize as a true disease (with identifiable characteristics which validate this classification such as prognosis, eitology and pathology)... so basically, trash AARC all you want... LEAVE DEVON OUT OF THIS... let him rest in peace... at least have that much respect and decency for a tragedy of this level to not turn it into a travesty in this forum...

P.S. just like the post above me, R.I.P. Devon... miss you man, hopefully even in the tragedy of your passing, people will see that although you did not have to die having learned what you did in AARC, that you have a powerful message to carry, and that is the seriousness and reality of the progressive terminal nature of compulsive drug and alcohol use aka ALCOHOLISM (which, again, is a validated, classified disease.)

I would really like to have a chance to have an honest debate with everyone who hates on AARC... bring it ajax, you seem like an articulate, intelligent dude... but on the other hand, the devil usually comes with a slick tongue and a remarkable ability to seem correct in all he speaks... so, lets drop the gloves... i am an "AARC survivor," still sober, and completely committed to the program, both AA and AARC... but i will concede one of you points... AARC is All About Receiving Cash: to continue to help kids that end up on the streets, suicidal, close to death and chemically dependant.
