If they are keeping them there because the are "so close to graduation" then it is not about the $$.  Parents pay the last three months of the program in advance.  In actuallity it would be more profitable for them to just kick those kids out.

They don't keep you at ridge creek because you are close to graduating the program at HLA. If you're dismissed from HLA and you're sent to ridge creek, that's because your parents decide to send you there. There was only one circumstance that I'm aware of when a student was dismissed from HLA but kept at ridge creek for the soul purpose of completing high school and that was because he was eighteen and all his parents wanted was for him to get all of his credits so that they could finally be done with him and not have to worry about him anymore. Once he was to have finished high school at ridge creek, his parents were going to cease communication with him completely.

No, she was sent to the Shalet. Where basically she's no longer part of the program and they keep her in a cabin out by the woods until they knew what to do with her.

Did they make the same admonishment for all the other runaways?

Pretty much. Early on in the program, these two girls in my peer group ran away and they were picked up by these guys who took them to a party and gave them drugs and then raped them. When I was on the phone telling my parents about it, the counselor who was listening immediatedly jumped in and demanded I stop telling my parents "stories."

Again, the point of the meeting was to get the true story out to the student body so that a bunch of false rumors didn't get to the parents.

They didn't dispell any false rumors because nobody even knew about it until they told us about it, all we knew was that Ana and Christy had run away. And what they told us in the end wasn't the truth regardless. They never mentioned the rape or the severe damage done to Christy. All they told us was that it was not something we needed to tell our parents about.

They never upfront threatened us with restrictions, it was just sort of understood. If something bad happened that made the school look bad and you told your parents, you were punished for manipulating.

I went through the program and recently graduated prior to the official release of the lawsuit filed by Plantiffs. I can and would be happy to however dispell some rumors and clear up some confusion with regard to a lot of these stories that have been floating around.
First and foremost, the incident involving the female student that sexually assaulted a fellow female student with tree branches: people wonder why it was that no police investigation, well I can tell you right now that the so called assault on the girl I will only reffer to as "C" was entirely premeditated. I knew both of the girls and I saw them right before they ran off into the woods together. I didn't know what they were up to at the time but I knew that "C" was dying to be withdrawn and so I just have to say that when it comes to the issue of the one girl assaulting the other girl, it was because the victim wanted to say that she had been assaulted by locals so that her parents would withdraw her. It is true that the next day there was an assembly in the school cafeteria where Charles Cates told us not to tell our parents about it because everyone in the end was okay.

I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone might have.
