Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Coddling Noelle Bush?

This is a blurb from a story that is strangely no longer on MSNBC. Did anyone copy it before it was removed?

Coddling Noelle Bush?
Oh Noelle, Oh Noelle...
"Some people are questioning why Noelle Bush is attending a cushy drug rehab center, rather than a much tougher, more controversial one supported by her father.
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has repeatedly endorsed SAFE, a controversial drug rehab program that has been the subject of lawsuits and media exposes. 'SAFE is a very tough program, so much so that former participants have characterized it as so strict and rigid that it's cultlike," says Rick Ross, who writes about it on http://www.cultnews.com. "And although Governor Bush has supported the program in the past, he apparently didn't lobby for his daughter to attend SAFE.'"

My name is Glen Sutherland
I was there from 12/19/1986 till April or May 88.
I Seven stepped with Jill Fields.
For better or for worse, I really did love some folks there, and I hope you all are doing well, but I know some of the events have scarred us forever.  Please forgive me if I was part of any of that.  I would love to know who all is around and how you are doing.  I am 35 and still have no idea what the heck I am supposed to do or how Straight effected me. I still to this day have not "used" since my intake. I have no idea if I am an addict, but it has been 18 years and I don't want to find out now. My life is so easily screwed up with out the extra hassle.  The greatest thing I did after Straight was follow my dream to go to medical school. This was a great accomplishment because I am really learning disabled.  However, I failed out.  I am 35 ? 20 years after Straight, and I just got started over.  I suppose that is not normal for most folks to fell that way, but pretty normal for us survivors when anything similar happens.  After all the bullshit, and startovers for no reason, as I was never full of shit, but staff thought I was so, they would randomly start me over.  Or maybe they perceived my parents as having money and the fortitude to keep me their for as long as it took.  Clearly thing happened to clients for vary different reasons that Straight told us.  I am not really bitter, it was so long ago, but it does affect me still.  One thing it did is positive. I am a determined son of a bitch now.  Nothing I face in life will even be as arbitrary, as difficult, or as point and mind fucking as that place.  So, I failed out of medical school, I am not deterred. I will go to the Caribbean and try again.

Peace,
Glen

I used to have to do talks all over Atlanta at high schools.
Lots of girls would come up to the stage afterwards and ask questions.
I thought they just wanted to learn more about the dangers of drugs. Doh! What could I have done on 5th phase anyway?

It is a shame that you are so wrapped up in your own bullshit that you are attacking someone who is obviously quite upset.

Well, you you just did the same thing to him.  The group here is often as mean as it was 20 years ago.  It is mind boggling. People come here, obviously needing help, and folks just tear into them.  It is exactly like group.

Clay,
While you were on staff, we would come back from working at Jiffy Lube or Mr. Pride, and raise our hand in the back of group and ask for permission to take an extra 5 mins in the shower to relieve tension. The guy who started this was Chuck from Alabama, can't rember last name, but he was hillarious.

Gov. Jeb Bush's Daughter Sentenced

The Associated Press
Thursday, October 17, 2002; 11:14 AM

ORLANDO, Fla. ?? Gov. Jeb Bush's daughter was led away in handcuffs Thursday after a judge sentenced her to 10 days in jail for violating the terms of her drug treatment program.

Noelle Bush, 25, kissed her aunt Dorothy Koch before a sheriff's deputy cuffed her hands behind her back. Her father, the governor, was not in the courtroom.

Before she was sentenced, Noelle Bush told Circuit Judge Reginald Whitehead: "I sincerely apologize for what happened and promise to do well at the Center for Drug-Free Living."

Whitehead told her he was sending her to jail because he was aware of allegations that she had been found with crack cocaine in her shoe while at the treatment center.

The judge said he was disappointed in her but was allowing her to stay in the program rather than returning her to the regular criminal justice system.

"I want you to have some time to think and reflect on this," he said. "You should be disappointed that you let yourself down."

The president's niece has been undergoing drug treatment in Orlando since February as an alternative to going through the traditional criminal justice system.

She was placed in the drug court system after she was accused of trying to use a forged prescription to buy the anti-anxiety drug Xanax at a pharmacy drive-through in January. In July, she was sent to jail for two days after rehabilitation center workers found her with prescription pills. Police were called to the center last month because of reports she had crack cocaine.

In interviews this week, Gov. Bush said his daughter's battle with drugs has strained his family, but he said he accepted the judge's decision.

Noelle Bush was sentenced on the same day President Bush was scheduled to visit Florida to discuss education at a New Smyrna Beach elementary school and hold a fund raiser for his brother's re-election campaign.
