Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / songs

hey..

i was in this place called second chance, started in 89 by scotty cassidy from st pete straight.

i guess, after all the reading i've done, that it was more or less just like straight, except less violent and with WAYYYYY more religion.  we had a whole rap of nothing but jesus and bible verses and singing hymns.

so it's strange to me that everything we did, y'all were doing like 10 years earlier.

did y'all sing tv show themes? we sang gilligan, flintstones, brady bunch, the snorks, hee haw, a buncha bullshit like that.

but rainbow made of children was our theme song.

we didn't have the peanut butter thing.  just a whole lot of memorizing bible verses.
oh and we had this fucked up thing called "druggie slang," where we werent allowed to say: cool, man, dude, awesome, rad. if we did, we had to say "gee golly gosh" 10 times per phase, like 50 if you were on 5th phase.

no swearing, either.

we had the self-mutilation, though.

so it's been 10 years, i was 13 when i went in, and i'm 24 now, and i'm still fucked up over it.  still have the fucking nightmares.

so what i really want to know is, how long before i get over it?

i'm writing about it here if y'all are interested in comparing the programs.  i'd love feedback...

sue.
