i loved the book. i've been reading a lot from the new crop of indian authors. if you are interested, you should check out gita mehta's a river sutra and her books of essays on india (snakes  and ladders: portraits of modern india and karma cola).

Arundhati Roy kicks ass and takes no prisoners.  i haven't read her book but i subscribe to a magazine that occaisionally publishes excerpts from her speeches.  In case you're interested, the magazine i'm referring to is called "In These Times" and is headquartered in Chicago.  i've also seen her speak on BOOK-T.V., which is on C-span-2 every weekend.  She is right on.
