I WAS JUST DISCOVERING OLD NOTES WROTE ON PAST FORUMS AND FOUND THIS ONE HILARIOUS, BUT OH SO TRUE. COME ON!, GIVE IT UP FOR MATT B'S YEAR 2000 CLASSIC...
I'm sure you all remember this oldie, but goodie. Here is what one might REALLY be thinking while singing it: I am Straight, hear me roar,(silently scream) in numbers too big to ignore,(more than the city fire code allows stuffed into a tiny intake room) and I know too much to go back and pretend,(that Straight is not Hell on Earth) because I've heard it all before(god, have I!) I've been down there on the floor(restrained at each limb) no one's ever gonna keep me down again.(Amen!) Ooh, yes, I am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain.(and crimes against humanity) Yes, I have paid the price, but look how much I gained.(but, I lost my identity) If I have to, I can do any thing.(except get those years back) I am strong(broken) I'm invincible(indictable) I am Straight(taken hostage) I am Straight, watch me grow,(blow chunks) see me standing toe to toe,(smelling B.O.) as I spread my loving arms across the land.(and choke the life out of you) But, I'm still an embryo, with a long, long way to go,('till I get off 1st phase) and I've got a long, long way until I make my brother understand("why the hell did Mom and Dad put you in there?") Ooh, yes, I am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain.(and torture) Yes, I have paid the price, but look how much I gained.(a lifetime of anger and resentment) If I have to, I can do anything.(except get past that big guy guarding the door) I am strong!(sick to my stomach) I'm invincible!(enraged) I am Straight!(filled with hate)

LOL.. that made me laugh. Although there is truth into every word you said, it made it more light-hearted for me anyway, thanks for sharing it it was funny
-
hey Matt, I know I know you so in rememberance to the songs I only have to say zippedeedoodaa. After spending some 3 plus years in there I really hate the place. Well, that was kinda funny the way you described things, very true. Well, life is getting better i guess since we got out of there and back in the society. Maybe one day we can convince the world this place really sucked and wasn't as good as seemed to the mass.
-
A lot of times when we had to sing "Straight is it" I used to sing really low and mess with the lyrics and say "Straight is shit" and nobody heard the difference between it.. lol
-
That was good...true, but, good...you made me laugh

lol.. I was a rebel back then and I wouldn't allow them to 'break' me, hell, if I wanted to be 'broken' I would have signed up for boot camp in the military a long time ago.. lol

How `bout "You're a grand ole' fag..."
-
I hate that song. Any song that existed in the straight theme sucks. The only one I liked they ruined for me. Remember when we sang the Jim Croche song about When you need a friend I'll be there, I love that damn song, but now when I here it I get depressed and think of straight and how they ruined my life and alot of other peoples life. Well, what can you say. Zippedeedoodaa.
-
I don't think we ever sang that Jim Croche song, I know which one your talking about "just call out my name, you know where ever I am" or something like that. We mostly sang songs like Kindergardeners would sing or those stupid Straight song lyrics.
-
Actually that was James Taylor. And we sang Fire and Rain too, I found it ironic because it was a song about heroin addiction.
-
oh sorry, I try hard not to listen to those songs anymore.. however ironically enough, I heard "Fire and Rain" at work and I cringed because that is the song we sang during those bad raps we got yelled at in (there was a name for them, I forget what they were called now).
-
There are a bunch of rap names listed here
Just plain 'hell' will do though.
-
My GOD! That probably took a lifetime to reiterrate all of that! Either that or whoever posted that still has all the info from when they were in.
But thanks for doing that! Most of the terminology I forgot about.
-
more dumb songs:
spiderman
oh what a beautiful morning
cat's in the cradle (we always forgot the verses)
zippadeedooda (obviously)
-
I always hated these songs after I went to Straight
I am Straight
Straight is It
Cats in the Cradle
Living Years (until I came to straight I liked this song)
Monkeys jumping on the bed (ugh.. please)
itsy bitsy spider
This Land is Your Land
Most of these songs were sang before a yelling rap.. so I cringe when I hear them.. thank God I don't hear most of them on the radio now.
