That's great! Did she also go to cedu or another similar school?

It must be so interesting to be able to talk to someone face to face on a daily basis (or be in a relationship with someone) who also went through this type of experience. My husband is so confused when I try to explain to him what happened there. He thought I was a wack-job when I met him (6 months after graduation)- I refused to tell him what happened up there for fear that they would find out and come cart me back up there.

On a somewhat related note, I had another cedu nightmare last night. In this one I was pregnant and they were trying to take me back to cedu. I said no, I'm over 18. Then I realized that I was pregnant and it was another out. From what i remember, they wouldn't take pregnant people at cedu- they were considered emancipated minors.
When will these nightmares go away???

well, maybe they're only dreams. maybe they can't hurt you, right?.

I think this site has helped a lot of us to free ourselves from past anxieties.  I hope we'll all meet one day.

Funny you mention your CEDU dream... I had one too the other night. (They recur episodically.) In it, I went back to campus as an adult as if I were posting for a job, in hopes to see that changes were made. I started exploring and found out that it was essentially the same. There were new faces but old ones exposed me and they basically justified all their wrongdoings. Then they demanded to escort me off campus but somehow locked me in with the kitchen staff, who were ordered to kill me. I begged the kitchen staff not to hurt me as I was the mother of two small children. They finally decided to look the other way so I could escape.

Weird dream, huh?

By the way, I often wondered what the kitchen staff thought of this crazy bin. Because they were there but not a part of it.  They used to drive us to doctor appointments, feed us when we were sick, and thankfully were the only ones who didn't spew all that crap about "my inner child." Thank you!

I had one like that a couple of years ago. Last one I can think of, btw. All the other ones were just run of the mill dreams that are a pleasure to wake up from. Not nightmares, just ones that made me giddy w/ relief when I woke up to my cheap apartment and I'd go around and look at my peacefully sleeping family and then sit out in the back yard and enjoy the hell out of the night sky for awhile cause I could.

But this one was really terrifying.

At the time, my daughter was involved w/ a very controling boyfriend who wouldn't really allow her to associate w/ family or friends. I was researching a particular boot-camp type school that owned a 14 story hotel building in downtown Indianapolis.

In my dream, I was touring the facility while attending some public event. I was there to look for my daughter. I found her polishing the banister on one of the floors of a 14 story atrium encircled by them, stairs and all.  She was exhausted and nearly blank. We both knew not acknowledge each other. I asked what this girl was doing, asif I didn't know her and was told that she was working to build character or some such. I got the impression that she was to polish every inch of that wood.

Next thing you know, it's just before dawn and we're standing in our home town at a spot where I used to pass on the way to the beach. I used to go there for the sunrise just to get a little solitude and to think about how to escape from home successfully.

We're asking passers by (odd at that hour) to help us. An elderly tourist couple agrees to let us spend the daylight in their nearby apartment. Just then, a couple of Program staff pull up in a fast car. They jump out in their Izod Lacross polo shirts w/ lengths of rusty rebar in their hands. They proceed to beat these old people well beyond death while laughing and taunting us about thinking we could get away.

Now THAT one took awhile to shake off. But I did and haven't really had any Program dreams since, that I can recall.

when I first went to work in the kitchen it was undergoing a huge "change" from the type of diet I was accustom to, over to one built around home cooked food that tasted good. (When I was first there it was homecooked but balanced for what was needed for a healthy body not what tasted good!)

The Change was one that took a person out of running the kitchen to being a "staff".  Bringing in a lady from Sandpoint and her side kick blond friend.:exclaim:

I can only say this..  I'm sorry for all who were wounded since then, I see some who were there just as I was leaving that come here.  

I can be honest and say that I may never "be there" again but there is a part of me in everyone who ever ate the food I cooked.  

The 5th month after I started they enrolled way to many students and a noon meal was cooked each day for 325.  It took them a whole 5 months to see that amount was to high to keep the wheels from falling off the wagons and then we settled in at about 215 kids for a few months.  

The only thing that I could take the place to the wall over was my 401K money.  It was my own savings and those trickers tried to keep it:exclaim:
  I also made sure that not only was some of my overtime wage  paid but that Dec. there were many people who walked up to me on the street, and said thankyou as they did have to pay all who worked overtime going back 2 years.  

I just so wish that all the things they "did" could be wiped clean.  And that those who were hurt were not, yet as we all know it is the strong who survive and I did as you have..  

So to answer the question.  I guess I didn't really look at what the students were dealing with, thought it was all good as my own Mom was a yeller to bad she was not paid the bucks those guys were who ran the raps.. :rofl: She would have blown off every single one of them.. LOL

Now I really do not think anyone of you knew me enough to know me.  But if you think you do feel free to write me at this address...

Thank you for the great post.   I am sorry that you had that experience at RMA.    But good for you for standing up for what is yours.

After reading your post,   I was reminded of all the great experiences I had with the kitchen staff during my stay [84-87].   The folks in the kitchen were always very generous with their time, and in my case with their money.    The kitchen staff bought me a prom dress. I still remember the dress it was green, and I loved it!   The staff was kind enough to take it in so the dress fit.

A few of the other great thing I remember is the sourbread starter.    That was a learning experience.    Cooking hollidas suace on a wood stove in the summer.   Between the stirring and reguating the heat -- creating the sauce was quite the feat.

If you are still in town, please mention to the kitchen staff that worked there in the mid 80s, that at least one student is very thankful that they were there.    And that they greatly improved the quality of at least one students life.

Does anyone else have some positive experience with the kitchen staff that they'd like to post?

I felt so bad for the kitchen staff when they started making them go through the propheets. Can you imagine, you think you have one job and you enjoy it (and it seemed like they did) and then they make you go into a disclosure circle and tell your deepest, darkest secrets to a bunch of teenagers?

I spent lots of time in the kitchen when I was at cedu. Having an eating disorder, most of my thoughts were consumed with food, how it was prepared, etc. The ladies were very patient and understanding with me. (The one ban that would have actually made sense while I was there would have been banning me from the kitchen- from what I remember, that never happened!) I'd have to say that the staff in the kitchen were some of the hardest working staff onsite. And boy did they think cedu was strange!
