okay...time to go back.....way back....back into time. I need everyones help being as totally pathetic as they can and listing memries of elan....small, big, fun, not-so-fun, whatever....
-
spring fling, winter carnival
-
I loved the talent show. I won a 1st place in a drama/singing thing `n 2nd place in this duet with Talia Gilford. I had fun, because I accomplished that as a Ram Rod of the Service Crew.
-
Did you know a kid named Brian D? He has very short brown hair. He left e-8 in August, the day the summer session ended? He had a friend named Fred.
-
Uhm.. .Brian Dolomont?
-
Oh right.. .I forgot to mention I was one of the people interviewed from the whole Skakel situation. Be a good puppet.. .
-
yes
-
Carefull what you say to Brian's mommy!
-
:scared: Heh.. .Dolomont `n his animal killings.. .
-
Just about the school. They asked us about "the ring" (haha, sounds weird ever since the movie came out, sorry, I`m being dorky) `n everything else about elan. They got this little stupid thing issued where when all new residents come in, they need to get a little booklet of what all the positions are `n what Elan is; kinda like a preview I guess. They interviewd all 3 houses at the time, when I was still in 7. They took 3 kids from every house, of course, ones that were smoothe talkers (that`s me
-
my guess is that people in your era didnt get the shit beat out of them

Nope, definitely not my era. This was like 2-3 years ago. Especially after people came snooping around, things aren`t like they use to be. A bit more lenient I guess. Although some kids make it worse for themselves. Like me, being a Chief `n being "removed from the mainstream" to cop to my guilt.. .I was in that sucker for a week in a half.. .And 3 GM`s until i told it ALL. That was a bitch :flame:
-
chrysta... i used to like halloween. we did some neat stuff if i can remember correctly. we had the pumpkin carving contests and little talent shows. i think im thinking of the right thing.

lake time?
softball and soccer games?
-
Uhm.. .The lake got all weird. Ever since a I found a leech under my foot - never again. Although my favorite sporting event would have to be when Pete Rowe would sometimes work the weekends. One time we had a dodgeball deal w` all the guys `n girls `n it was drizzling then rained harder. We played until it got dark. That was an awesome time.
-
Believe it or not I have so many good memories. Soccer was great I loved the interaction with the other houses. So loved the talent shows Jackie and I always did as many acts as we could. We use to have alot of fun coming up with ideas, we would laugh for hours with Missy and Bob. As for spring carnival does anyone remember when that poor guy ran into the basketball pole at the end of the race. That looked like it hurt so bad. Seriously some of my best memories was in the dorms. Jackie, Hiliary, Beth, Michele oh god the could go on forever. But Jackie and I would laugh forever. You would get crazy in those dorms.
-
Hey Mandy....
Loved the soccer games!!

hated cross country....we had to get up at like 5 or something and run forever before everyone else woke up. I wasnt allowed to quit the team
-
Heh heh.. .X-Country. I quit. I`m surprised I didn`t get a GM.. .Bleh. :flame:
-
nasty weekend brunches....eeewww
-
One winter we were having a blizzard, and right at the end of it we got to go outside. We had a football game, and the teams were pretty much all the good atheletes against the scrubs. Well, the scrubs beat the piss out of the athelets, the snow was two feet deep and it was the most fun i ever had at Elan.
-
I loved rec trips in the summer. Boston trip was totally awesome, sailing, and white water rafting was the best. Even when I almost drowned and Brian Burr saved my life.
-
my fav will always be when we lost the power for that long time. we were smelly and gross but we got to lay in bed forever. i remember listening to tv shows on the radio at the re entry dorms. it was like a mini vacation. Remember the whole scabies scare. we all had to wear those white t shirts and those aweful shorts. weird times
-
Kelley I was in your dorm for the ice storm. That was totally nuts. There was so much shit in the toilets cuz they wouldn't flush it was so gross. I was a new resident shotdown for having a contract with Sylvie. We listened to Seinfeld on your radio, and you got your feelings off for me alot back then. LOL. Man it was cold.
-
i still feel bad about getting my feelings off for anybody. Im sorry. it was cold but we didn't have to do much so i liked it. i do remember the grossness of the toilets tho yuck! i remember i didn't much like spring fling. i hated doing all the sports and they would not let me quit any so i was stuck. that sucked getting up before everyone. and running so much for cross country used to always give me bad cramps, but oh well it's over and i'll never run again
-
it's nice to see many of the assholes have left this forum !
-
what happened why did elan 7 merge with elan eight and when did that happen?
-
i think downsizing
i dont know that there is as much interest in elan because of all of its scrutiny
-
i still remember wearing a sign that read...."Please confront me as to why i act like a baby"
-
when iwas there the houses were loaded all three of them.every year the eletric must go out there..
-
wow the coolest time i remember is when this kid i think his name was joe real tiny boy. punched tonia merret in the nose blood flew every where.
i belive he broke her nose.
-
i remember a recieving a GM for acting out in the corner. Marc and Clare came in at 7 am on a saturday and woke the house up. Gave them 5 min to get up and ready to hit the floor to deal with me and one other. Man, everyone was pissed off that morning. Spit was flying
-
who are you pinkalicious? who are the rest of you? this is matt shakespeare
-
Matty Shakes, it`s me - Mary Grace, fool. I`m the one who gave you this website.. .Lol, shoulda checked it with me on AIM :em:
-
Matt shakes will die in the hands of former students who hated him. Just cant get away from elan can you. You will Merry deathmas.
-
can't get away from elan? hmm... i'm not the one wasting my life away bitching about the place because i couldn't hack it... die at the hands of former students? could you be any more pathetic?
-
Actually we all graduated at least I did, With much honor from everyone, Im just not a stupid baby who had to spend the rest of my life brainwashed working in hell, you fucking prick
-
another decent topic about to go down the drain
-
how bout spring cleaning day.....as if we didnt gi enough, this was the day to gi everything from top to bottom. No person in the dichotomy excluded.
-
My most vivid Elan memory was the first week I arrived. I think someone else mentioned this one previously, but it was when the kid punched Tania Marett and broke her nose. Like it wasn't bad enoguh to be uprooted from life (although maybe not a great life at the time) and placed in Elan, but then to witness this on your first scary week? Everyone was up screaming in this kid's face, then he just out and punches Tania in the face..broke her nose.....then there was the 3 house meeting after because of what he did, and there was a friggin' RIOT at the 3 house. People were throwing chairs and fighting everywhere....I was scared as hell and wondering why my parents had put me in this place.
This is Alissa from E7 1992, BTW....I am not registered
-
I remember that very vividly Alissa, I was standing next to that kid, Joe, at the time with Nick D. (who passed way recently) because we were Coor. at the time. Joe had just got his first trip and he was planning to split off it. Somehow Tania foundout, so we had a GM for him. Once she shot him down, bang, he punched her. Hiram and Dave M had to pull Nick, Elliot and I off the kid we were beating him so bad after that. Then we had the three house and all hell broke loose. I forgot you were brand new then, that must have been real scary. Things started to change after that, they shipped a lot of the street kids out after that riot (man, that was out of control, I remember being in the ring with that kid Joe, and he couldn't even stand coz I was the 6th guy in there, they just wanted to beat him down, and then the GM after was for Jason Reed, and Danny Cooper started the riot, that was around the first basketball team, and almost the whole team got shipped out after that because they were all in the fight, so our team sucked). You came at a transition time.

Hi Matt, My name is Cindy and my son Brian D. was there under your watch. Arrived Jan, 2003. Do you remember I called up and FIRED you? You really upset me. Do you have ANY IDEA how difficult it is to have your child away, hardly able to speak to him, NOT ALLOWED to visit him, and to have your contact person not return you calls for weeks??????????????????
Couldn't you have even sucked it up to call and appoligize? When my life was at it's worst, YOU, the one that was to help our family, failed us.
Having yourself been a student there, one would think you would have a better understanding of how hard it is for all those involved. I sure hope in you next job, It doesn't involve "helping kids and families".
You made a horrid situation worse! You hurt me deeply.
Thank God for Dave M. & Missy.
Can you give me the courtesy and reply to this?[ This Message was edited by: Llahsram on 2004-12-26 09:01 ]

 Oooh.. .She told you!
-
Did GIing out our drawers and bedboxes do anything? Those sponges were so smelly, I think it actually made it worse. It was gross to have to put your clean underwear back in a drawer that had just been freshly gied with 79 different types of bacteria. Llashram you might want to stop someof the things you say on here because they might really embarrass you son when he gets out. I know it's hard but maybe you should send matt shakespear personal messages. Matt I was at elan 8 when you were at 7. Do you remember me?
-
Maren,
Brian graduated in August. He has been home ever since. I just wanted an explaination. Why would that embarass him?
I would never want to do that.CT

When did you leave Elan? I am not sure if you were there when I was. It was so crazy when I got there. 3 93-96
-
Llahsram(Cindy)
That is horrible. The fact that this so called staff has the balls to post on this sight makes me sick. Your ob was to communicate to parents who had sent their children away in your trust. I hope he got fired. Matt, you are the reason Elan has a bad name, staff like you who never gave a shit. Step boy.
-
Jon & Cindy, my parents could never get anyone on the phone for weeks and weeks when I went to Elan either...this was a problem 12 years ago. I'll tell ya, if I was paying $40,000 to send my child to school, I damn well better get phone calls back! that is pretty sick......

Dear Jon & Ailssa, Thanks for understanding. It was a very difficult time for me and for my 10 year old Marshall.~(Llahsram). I am also a very emotional person that can cry just because I am happy. It can be pretty bad when I am sad.
I am SO glad elan is behind us.
Although, as much as I hated the entire time my son was there, he is a different person today.
As for a staff member posting here, I see no problem with that. If it had been Missy or Dave, They would had been welcomed with open arms. The two of them are wonderful people, who treat the kids with respect and don't throw their power around. We were lucky to have had them during my son's stay. ::nod:: CT
-
I love Missy. I was very fortunate to have hadb wonderful staff members. I am glad your son is doing well.

Well I was in the house when was of the staff members told me my father was on the phone. I almost threw up be cause my dad had been dead for almost a year. It was my brother on the phone. Come on how does stuff like that happen after being for almost a year at that time.

I was at Elan 7 from July 92 to August 93...how about you?
-
Cindy, I remember you and I remember your son Brian... And I remember working with him over and over again, trying to get him in a position to get him a visit... There was no one more who wanted him to have a visit other than me... And I faught for him to have a visit, and fought for you to see himm, and as I recall, you did get a visit with him, because I advocated that he have that visit... Which I will add, was not difficult, considering that he had been there for six months and had reached the highest position of worker... More importantly, I called you back everytime you called, however, as I recall, my responses simply weren't "quick" emough or you didn't get the answers that you wanted... Furthermore, I also distinctly remember also working with Brian's father as well... So, to the other person who posted about staff not giving a shit, understand what you're talking about... I worked over 90 hours a week at Elan, held events for the students on my free time, brought in prizes and food for students to have them compete, and advocated my ass off for a lot of students that weren't doing anything... So, you can think whatever you want...
-
alicat- how were you there only 13 months?
-
I'm sorry... the people i knew from elan 8 were from cross country... we weren't allowed too much house interaction... refresh my memory... what was your last name?
-
hey anon....what year were you?
-
i was 98-00...
-
ok back to topic...i remember a tile or two under the tv in the corner of the room that was gied with orange peels. That was originally done by Mark Seiller in 92. I loved Giing that spot. Lord knows I did it enough!!!!

Matt, yes,you did work to get a visit for us. It was a two day visit without an overnight.
I thank you for what you did, and as angry as a sound, I did appreicate it and we had a great time.
I do need to clarify,... I was NOT IMPAITENT,... you did not return my calls for more than 3 weeks. You even went on vaction, still without calling me back. No one else is allowed or informed enough to step in.
How would YOU have felt if you were the one waiting? It is heart wrenching! Unbearable! This was a very difficult time for us as I am well aware of your knowledge in this area.
I do understand the staff is overworked and that parents are not their top priority, but a little compassion goes a long way.
Had you only called and let me know that you hadn't forgotten about me, things could have been different.
I am sorry for the slam, my son really did like you.
I am not one to keep quiet when I need to blow off steam.
Can we put this behind us?
As for his father, he belongs in elan but I don't think his I.Q. is high enough.

i remember the pizza and subs we would get on weekends. I loved it then I can not imagine how it would taste now
-
oh my god....i can still remember that taste. eeeewwwww. Another reason I love my freedom....d'angelos baby!
-
I remember those subs and pizza's. i haven't thought about that in a long time. Do you remember Janine? I wonder what she is up to.
-
who is this? Janine Losey?
-
dang, I forgot my name again. Yeah, I was talking about Janine Losey
-
Remember how if you saved your pizza for one day in the refridegerator it would turn green? It still was better that the elan food though.
-
hells yeah i remember that girl. She was awesome. havent talked to her in some time though. saw her once outside of elan with scott mcgrady.
-
remember shalonda rhea? cant find her anywhere
-
yeah!! she was cool. I wonder what she is up to these days. Remember Keisha? I always think of her walking around popping her gum all the time! I wonder what Bill is up to. He's probably succeeding somewhere.
-
I remeber that??!! Who are you? :???:
-
I remeber when Tania got punched...who wrote that??? That was NOT cool, but it was cool when they beat Joe T to a tiny pulp and sent him to god knows where. I never told anyone this, but I used to have to clean pans ("Large A's) on backzone all the time, and Joe would always be backzone, and I was shotdown and he was strength but he would always say all this shit to me, like trying to mess with me, and then Tania or Peter would come back there and he would act all like he was a great citizen or something, and they would buy it, and I was the bad guy! It used to drive me CRAZY. There was nothing I could do, no one beleived me after I split (even though I came back on my own). Oh well, I can laugh about it now.
-
i remember how nasty the bathroom smelled. A combinatin of urine and cover up cleaner. The showers smelled the same way.
-
Why were they called large A's any ways, why not just large pans?
-
thats a good question
-
I think the "A" part stood for attitudes. That's what I remember anyway. I think that way when you "hit" them it could count as hitting an LE, so you could get stuff marked off the LE list.
-
...
-
I wrote about Tania getting punched, Josie! That was a scary first week for me. Luckily it seems like that was a transition to calmer times. I don't remember anything else quite so dramatic happening while I was there
-
I remember coordinator meetings and really trying to pull through for your crew. The hard part was, the director of our coordinators (Clare Woodman) was usually always short on time. This just meant that we didnt always get our whole crew taken care of. I was Coordinator of the Sc and usually had at least 10 new residents. Trying to get them all what they need was pretty tough especially when we had to go through Clare. Loved her though- she really always tried to give us her all
-
I also remember that one coordinator's meeting, 3 FC came unprepared and Clare made then GI in the center of the meeting for the entire hour . Their crews were not able to be taken care of because of lack of preparation.
-
i remember.....walks to the annex to pick up sundries as SC....Pretty cool when you got to get out for a bit...
-
About the Tania nose break, yeah, he did hit her and she had to get plastic surgery to fix it. She talked about it in a GM once...
-
Not sure how the women's outreach dorms showers were (or re-entry dorms or whatever they called them), but the men's showers were pretty much a coffee-maker. A scalding hot drip where you had to smash yourself against the wall to even get wet. All the little things are coming back now. Makes me apprecaite being out.
-
Even as horrid as the pizzas and subs were, you didn't dare put them in the fridge. Peter would send people to the kitchen to raid the personal food during groups.
-
Cross-country in the mornings. Ugh. And Peter driving up and down the road in his car. Then for our "trip" on the weekend, he'd make us run grueling hills and then give us donuts, presumably as some sort of compensation.

Students turned staff: John Gaffey, Nick White, and a vindictive little c*nt name Tracy Mendonides from the Chicago area... ... I think that's it... Chris Getoor went to school up there at St. Joseph's college, so I saw him a few times. Even though a lot of aspects of the school were fucked up, I didn't mind going back and speaking there in front of the house, because I was able to put my own spin on how "Concept" related back to real life. And I always said that to the house in no unclear terms. Besides that, the area was beautiful, one of the nicest areas of the country. Aside from the bugs in the spring/summer and the snow in the winter. Sorry if went off on a tangent.

Nick White????
e-7 nick white from around 94-97?
-
The same Nick White. He moved to Assistant Director faster thatn anyone else ever has... But then quit b/c he had another kid on the way and needed more income.
-
Brian never fucking graduated! maybe highschool but certainly not the program. e-8 hasnt even had a coordinator in over 6 months...your in denial...
-
large a's stands for large attitudes. people with alot of l.e.'s hit them to clean their slate.
-
when I was there, we would hit Large A's AS an LE. We didnt get to clear any slate though...Shit, I wish!
