Title: National-level TV Talk Show looking for survivors of Straigh
Post by: wesfager on November 29, 2004, 05:58:00 PM
I have just been contacted by a producer of a well-known, national-level TV show. They want to do a show on Straight survivors. They are looking for survivors from Straight and from any follow-on Straight programs. They are especially interested in women's stories. Since I am making this request on a discussion forum, they ware requesting that I do not announce which program it is at this time.

They will pay travel, hotel accomodations and a small per dien. They would like to broadcast the show as early as possible, perhaps as early as Dec 9.

If you are willing to appear on the show, please contact the undersigned ASAP. I need your name and phone number which I will forward to my contact with the program.

Thank you,

Wesley Fager

Make sure they mention Pathway. Some bad press for that place would be like a breath of fresh air.

Pathway is actually quite different than Straight. I think a lot of people confuse the two. Straight closed around 1993 and left all the bad practices with the dying name. Pathway saved my sister's life. I hope that this series does not give Pathway a bad name. It was the last hope my family had for my sister's recovery.

YOUR SISTER HELPED HERSELF DESPITE BEING IN A MIND CONTROL ABUSIVE PROGRAM!! IN A FEW YEARS WHEN YOU ARE DEPROGRAMMED YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND, FOR NOW DO NOT POST AGAIN ABOUT THIS CRAP.  IT IS LIKE SHITTING DOWN MY THROAT WITH ALL THE ABUSE AND SUBSEQUENT THERAPY AND SUICIDE I TRIED DUE TO THESE PEOPLE.

BESIDES YOUR SISTER CAN SPEAK FOR HERSELF, OTHERWISE GO THE FUCK AWAY AND I AM DEAD FUCKING SERIOUS!!!!!!!

Wow, sounds like you still need treatment. Don't kill yourself over something this stupid. It's not worth it. And I CAN speak for my sister because of her actions, not words. And by the way, this is a free country and I do not have to listen to any of the crap that you, or any other anonymous person has to say.

You all are hilarious... and a bit scary. I did not know the depths of the resentment and hatred that there was for PFC and straight, until reading this forum. I am a Graduate of Pathway, and a damn happy one, too. I am speaking for myself by the way. Geez, it saved my life, as i was 17 and did not wish to stop using on my own. I never once since reading this forum hear anything about the AA program and how Pathway introduces youths to it. That's what keeps me sober today, and pathway just gave me some time to look at myself. So, to all those angry and hurt people, maybe you all should be looking at yourselves instead of blaming a progam that you attented possibly years ago... let go and stop blaming other things for your fucked up lives.

You have no clue about responsibility. You must think you needed the abuse and now you think others deserve it too? What the hell is your problem? You're just as washed as a waterbug at the local carwash...  Are you incapable of making a decision for yourself? Apparently so. Until you, Mr. Expert pathway graduate guy, can choose for yourself to drink or not, you oughtta get a mirror and go fishing at Lake Clue.

Hint, Yes, I want a drink

        No, I don't want a drink

Confused? Huh? What? No, really? Wow, can it be so simple? Hot damn.

well, thank goodness to AA I can decide for myself not to drink today. If you havent noticed, alcoholism is a reality, and im an alcoholic, so without spiritual help, i  wouldnt be able to decide for myself whether to drink or not...

You obviously haven't read much of these forums.

Check out a cemetery near you, there's more to those depths than you think. Thanks for speaking for yourself buddy, your sponsor appreciates it. Your problems seem to include not wishing to be abstinent on your own. Why support a program that force feeds kids a load of bullshit with every bite? When will you take charge of your life? Do you still have thoughts of needing to be beltlooped and watched in the bathroom? It sure sounds like it.

Well, i definenently want to be abstinent on my own, that's the whole point, I mean ya there was some screwed up stuff that i didnt like at pathway, but there's screwed up stuff in life today that i dont like. i definently have no resentments for what i went through, because honestly i was spinning out of control in my life. I dont know about you all on this forum, but i used a lot of drugs and drank a whole lot, and i was pretty messed up. So i guess im saying that i am grateful to be sober today and thats it. No hard feelings, i understand how some of you may feel, but speak for yourselves, and look at the fact that pathway may help some people get sober, as there are a handful of people from my original group that are still sober, and go to meetings regularly. From what they tell me, they could not have stopped drinking or smoking dope, whatever on their own, myself included. Im not tryin to stir up a fight with any anti straight or pathway folk, just saying that there is some people that pathway actually assisted in getting sober, thats all.If you want to respond to this in a negative matter, by all means thats fine, just know that to each his own. I really hope you all are happy and successful people, and that you can let go and do what you need to do.
                   Ciao

So what I hear you saying is that since there are screwed up things in life it doesn't matter there were screwed up things going on there. See that's the problem w/ these places in a nutshell. They think the end justifies the means.

To tell people here to let go of their exps. is insulting. I sit here on the other side and know the history behind these 2 places and personally it does not matter what changes if any were made at Pathways. Vicki Winebarger was a program parent in straight who later became staff for straight and pathway. She is not absolved from the hand she played in robbing all of us are dignity and freedom. Where is her public apology?
