Title: Actual Lakewood student comments about the Seed
Post by: Somejoker on August 07, 2002, 11:57:00 PM
Did the Seed love Lakewood High?
Find out now!
thanks to Scott for sending me this.
In 1973-74,When I was in the Seed in the ninth Grade, the school newspaper interviewed students and seedlings for an article about the seed. I know some of the kids that responded by initials. and vividly remember this coming out. I didn't think I would ever see it again. Thanks again, Scott!
lakewood was a big school. The newspaper claimed "the seed is probably the greatest single issue to ever embroil Lakewood Students in conflict. Obviously this is because it effects almost every single student here".
Those of you who weren't there can't even imagine how much the Seed cult had invaded Lakewood. The Seed loves you license plate was even in our annual.
Anyway, here is a must see school newspaper that documents our torture, for your pleasure! Click on the image and a arrow should appear, click on that for full screen.

How strange it was for me to see the picture again.... I had forgotten what the T-shirts looked like even though I remember hating to wear them.
Thanks so much for posting this.

I went to the seed between 8th and 9th grade in the summer. Coincidentally, it was also the year that ninth grade became part of high school.
So, I entered lakewood high at 14 in the ninth grade, with my hair all hacked off in a seed hair cut, a seed tee shirt on and was ridiculed and harassed the whole first week by my old friends and the older upper classmen. My old best friend, whom had been in the Seed, came up to me and as we were talking, told me "the seed sucks" and smiled. Then he said, "My mom pulled me out, fuck that place." AFter that, he became one of my tormentors and I haven't spoke to him since. Later that year he disappeared and I never saw him again.I often wondered what happened to him.
Rick S., if you are out there, hope everything is good for you.

The bottom of the first link was the obituary of my sisters boyfriend, and she was messed up in the same accident. Was in a coma for 6 weeks!  Of course those that know, now know who I am!

I went to Lakewood starting in 77 and into straight in 80(orig bldg) but I was wondering if anyone knew a Oliver and Prescott Joy. They were my boyfriends older brothers and were in Seed in St. Pete sometime in I'm guessing early to mid 70's.
I had heard of seed but didn't know it was so popular in my school. I was pretty innocent until about 78 and in 9th grade we were on a split session so we hardly ever saw any of the upper classmen.

Yes I knew them. The reason you didn't know about the seed in 1977 is because it was already gone and the last of them were graduating when you were a freshman.

I told all four that there are going to be some times where we don't
agree with each other, but that's OK. If this were a dictatorship, it
would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad seed died out but to bad straight had to be its seedling.
