The letter in the link is not only incredibly misleading, but a little confusing as well. First, what type of "contact" did you have with "three film festivals"? and who fucking cares?
If you established interest form a "major cable company" what were they going to do for you...show the flick on someone elses network? If a cable company is interested, which makes no sense or difference in a production of a film, why didnt they offer to suplement the budget? Maybe they werent THAT interested? or maybe, you never spoke to a "major cable company" because a "major cable company" doesnt involve itself in production of programming, they purchase network programming and sell it to cable customers.
The whole letter is quite amaturish.

According to my sources, and in my opinion, SIGNIFICANT alleged threats
of lawsuits from Elan attorneys to Mr. Eisman may have forced this decision.
I'm not convinced that this is the case, however.
You gotta have deep pockets to protect yourself from Elan, in my opinion.

evidence all the documents. tapes and witnesses to Elan in those early

These documents interestingly enough are also at the disposal of Mr.
