Has anyone ever tried to contact Michael Moore? I wrote him and email Entitled "Victims of Republicans War on Drugs need your help." If anyone could expose Sembler & Straight it's Michael Moore. I will continue to contact him until I get a reply. Can you imagine what a great documentry he would create about Straight INC!

to you and all other active participates in this movement.
You FUCKING rock. ::drummer::

Yes, I have sent him many emails, as has my wife. Either he ignores them or his box is full. While I like Michael Moore's policical views, I am pissed about him not answering our emails.
-
I have too. I'm not pissed about not getting an answer, but it was a little disappointing not to get one. I figured he was busy, or his box was full. Who knows, he might not even be the one to check them.
I'll keep on trying!
-
Busy my ass....keep trying.. from diff IPs..as he may have blocked your IP from his inc mail.
Who is this guy again? This is the person that did Bowling for Columbine? (I just woke up so i may be way off)
-
You can add me to the list. I've emailed the guy several times over the years. Michael Moore (or whoever screens his email for him) is simply not interested in this story. Maybe that will change as more people take an interest and those among us who are MM fans drop him a line. Time will tell.

The two email's I have are mike@michaelmoore.com (http://mailto:mike@michaelmoore.com)
Keep sending them & just maybe one of us will get a reply!

You know, with all the flak surrounding F-9/11 (see Christopher Hitchens review), I wonder if it might be a good idea to look for a less controversial but equally talented documentary maker? One suggestion I have would be to check Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival website for names of award winning documentaries, writers, producers, etc. Also, Tom Hanks has a production company, as do many other actors and actresses. Why not contact them and pitch your ideas? Moore isn't the only game in town.

what about us postal mail. got an Adress?

what happened with the guy from NY that was making a documentary? I heard it was done.

Just saw Michael Moore on CNN and they totally started talking over him...cut him off then ended the interview..was nuts I have never seen that happen on CNN...not that I dont think CNN is already skewed with bullshit and propoganda...will be interesting to see how they run the interview later...they may chop off the end as it was live just now.
-
I don't think it is done. you can contact them at http://www.straightkids.com (http://www.straightkids.com) and ask. As far as michael moore goes I think it would be better to snail mail him. So I will try and get back with the response, if there is any.
The sundance site is a good idea but does anyone know how to pitch an idea? I sure don't.
would be happy to have some ideas though.

The problem is noone gives a fuck or sees it as a threat/tragedy but those that were directly involved.
Ive tried to tell people the story of Straight...my story as a very young child in Straight..
I usually get one of three reactions.
1) people tend to not get it and think that I am exagerrating
2) people feel that we were all "fucked up" and they were trying to help and I am demonizing
3) people feign empathy but really still dont care/ understand
-
you are forgetting this one.
1) Drugs addicton is bad. what were you addicted to/what was your drug of choice?
(totally ignoring your points about being abused and assuming you were addicted and badly needed drug treatment)
Or how bout this whopper....been told to me several times...
2) I sure hope my kids stay off drugs so it isn't necessary I put them in a place like that.
(the assumption that as bad as it may have been, if you are on drugs you still 'needed it')

I just got back from watching Fahrenheit 9/11. Its very much the same story as many of yours. It doesn't deal with tortured kids from the suburbs, but covers a lot of human suffering happening today. If you think your life sucks, take a vacation in Iraq this summer.
-Everyone should go see it. Just bring some tissue-

We were all told to be grateful in Straight just because we were still breathing, blah, blah, etc. For reasons unknown to me viewers of protestors seem to think that means they are unhappy with life and have problems.
pro-life people are fighting abortions because their unhappy?? legislators and lawyers ligitate laws because their life sucks? so-on and so-on.
The thing is some people are just tring to make the world a better place, here and abroad.
In the past I spent hours, days, months and years in some cases tring to explain Straight to people.
Their rules and techniques were so off the wall that noone can get a full grasp of the place without experience in there. My hope has been a reenactment on film to tell the story. I think that's the best way for people to see what we have tried to describe.

Well when I went to straight I had gotten drunk a whopping 3 times of my PARENTS ALCOHOL and smoked marijuana here and there....that was it.
Hardly an addict in my book. No I checked myself in after a straight rep came and talked to me and my family and told us it was the best program to help me deal with my depression and family problems...HA!
Nah my problems werent drug/alcohol related. The drugs camre after straight...after I sat in a chair for a year at 12/13 years old saying and hearing over and over and over "Im an addict"
I believed it eventually and lived the role..

he will never reply he is spending your money you stupid leftist commie fools

Moore's latest film was crap. With the omissions and lies he made, people who were on the fence about Bush may discredit everything in the film (which had some merit). I do not like Bush and I am not a conservative, but I believe Moore did more harm to the anti-Bush cause than good. If a documentary is to be made about STRAIGHT I would prefer it to be done by someone with integrity and credibility. Both of which Moore seems to have left by the wayside in his latest film.

I feel dopey for suggesting the MM exposure on another thread, not having noticed this thread.
The one calling people "leftist commie fools" obviously didn't spend any time as a victim of these ridiculous programs. If they had, they would also be left of center by virtue of the fact that the right is directly responsible for all the suffering we went through.
