Title: Intake Lies
Post by: TimeBomb on June 07, 2004, 10:55:00 AM
Staff: We just want you to come in and talk to us.

Me: But I've got to be to work in the morning, I'm working a double shift.

Staff: You can leave anytime you want to, there aren't any bars on the windows.

Me: But the windows are 12 feet off the ground.

4 hours later...

Helen Peterman: Just sign the damn paper! It's getting late and these people have to be to work in the morning.

Me: No.

Helen Peterman: OK, we're keeping you anyway.

I never did sign the intake papers. I wonder how Ginger was able to walk away from that fucking torture chamber.

I guess the best option would have been to pretend that I was going to sign the damn confession, and then bury the pen in Helen Peterman's eye socket. That was really the only way I could have left the place without being belt-looped. Of course, then I probably would have been thrown in jail. Or, maybe commited to a psych ward for being "homocidal"-- even though I had never hurt a fly before. Either way, it would have been a lot more pleasant, even without the cojentin or artane. :skull:

Ah, hindsight.

Another good one:  "Just sign the paper.  You'll be done in two weeks"

How dumb was *I* to believe it - even a week later! Mathematically speaking,  it would have taken a PERFECT Lifer 8... EIGHT weeks to "Step out"

First phase was a MANDATORY two weeks!

Statute's probably expired.  I wonder if a "lost wages" suit would have applied here.... among OTHER THINGS!?

I seem to remember 6th phase being described as a "6 month followup". I don't remember the theoretical (almost impossible) times for the other phases. But I know they had to be at least a week for each one -- probably more. Funny though, most of the 6th phasers I remember had already been there for at least a year.

Of course, you were there a few years before me.

Some people were "court orderd",intake paper signing just a formality."Court Order" had expiration date, not ordered to COMPLETE the program, just to stay 30 days by court order.Courts were supposed to REVIEW those cases at a later date TO DETERMINE IF FURTHER PROGRAMMING WAS NECESSARY,not to see if you were ready for release, but failed to.The courts/public defenders should have this on record.

Sara
First phase was only 2 weeks when you were there?  I thought it was 3.  I guess it doesn't matter anymore.  It felt like friggin forever.  There was a kid who went in when I did and he stayed on first phase for a year.  I couldn't have done that.  I would have been willing to say or do whatever I had to do to get the hell out of the building without someone beltlooping me.

Well, I was

TOLD

...that one was not able to apply for a "talk" or a "responsibility" or a "phase change" after the first week, because that was an "adjustment period", and if I was really good, I could apply for second phase at the end of the second week.

Well... that's how they got me to sign the paper. If they had told the truth, I'd have taken my chances on the mental hospital which they threatened me with if I hadn't signed.

Isn't it funny how everyone has a totally different account of their intake terms? I wonder what ever happened to that first and most important rule?
