There is a 16 year old boy who has run away from a CEDU affiliated school in California. Sounds like his parents are worried sick about their son who has been missing 2 months!

There is a related news article that says the Twin Peaks Sherrif's station took 18 reports of runaways and 41 calls for service.
Hopefully this boy will be found soon and returned home to his parents.

Even though the kid probably doesn't want to be found for fear of being sent back to CEDU or some other program, it sounds like his parents have learned a very hard lesson and just want him to be found safe and returned home.

yea sure... they never learn. ive never seen anyone runaway and not go back there, or go to ascent, or the behavior hospital where they play ginnea pig with ya

Actually, I split and made it home and was not sent back. THe key is making it back home. THe first time I split I only got as far as town so I was just sent back. The second time, I made it home. It helped I was NOT the runaway type at all so it really freaked them out that I would do that. I was gone a week and that also freaked them out. I wouldn't be surprised if this kids' parents feel similarly, depending on the types of problems they had before CEDU.

In The Seed and Straight, they really beat it into our heads that no one ever escapes. But I did. Home would not have been the place for me. I had help from an older brother, CYS and the courts.
But in those programs, there was a hard rule, enforced to extremes, against talking about anybody. If Joe wasn't in the room, you couldn't say "Me and Joe had hot dogs for lunch." When I went to CEDU, you could not talk about what when on in a rap or propheet. A propheet is an experience where you are isolated for intense exercises and raps for a period of 24 hours to nearly a week. YOu could say "Joe and I were on the same work detail today" or whatever. You were NOT to tell stories about your friends outside unless you were "telling your story." (You could not atlk about cars, music, etc. either) "Telling your story" was a requirement at CEDU--but they would change your story if they thought any of it was positive. It was supposed to be all shit pre-CEDU.
When I split CEDU, all contact was cut off. my peers were supposed to stay another 18 months, so they had many more experiences to "bond" them to the cult. I was now on the persona non grata list and of course could call nobody there.
If someone split, there was utter silence. Zero contact. Zero news. They would never relate good news about the person anyway.
I split, put myself back in school, made the honor roll for my last two years of HS, did not get into drugs, volunteered, worked out, had nice boyfriends, etc... And guess what? I was still fucked up in a lot of ways. Those issues were never dealt with at CEDU. In fact, they were compounded.
Before I split, we all got the same story and so did our parents, that anyone who leaves will be killed/addicted/or incarcerated. CEDU-RS was isolated on a mountain top, so we also heard scary stories about what dangers might befall us if we left. Last, they made all parents tell their kids they would go to lock-down hell if they split CEDU to inspire fear in us. This made no sense because most of the kids were simply spoiled rich kids run amok. Very few addicted kids. No psychotics. Very few violent kids (aggressive maybe.)
Even though I got the hell out of Dodge, I never really allowed myself to think about WHY I had to get the f*&^ out. It was instinct.

That's something that's probably absolutely required for cult-like control of an individual. At least it seems to be one consistent thread through all of these programs.

I couldn't explain it at the time either. Still can't seem to explain it to anyone who doesn't already know about it firsthand; at least not in fewer than 10k words that make sense.

Hi, I am the father of the runaway kid. He is still missing and we have no idea where he is now. I just found this forum yesterday by chance. After I read some story on this site. I found out we made our biggest mistake in our life to send my son to cedu high.
After my son was missing, the school took a don't care attitude and lied to us on almost every single things about what had happen to my son in cedu. They even gave mis-informed statments on the police report!

First of all i hope he is found safe and unhurt.When i went to cedu in the late 80's it was very difficult to call home.(All phones at cedu were in a locked room)The only phone i could get too was at the elementary school.So if you had a terrible experience and had to call him..You had to go awol.Actually I beleave cedu wont let you contact your parents for at least the first 8 weeks.
I tried escaping down the back of that mountain and after a day of hiking the route I took it was Impossible.Like others I had to go back up and it was almost a life changing event.(Dehydration and Exhaustion)When I did arrive one of the staff asked why i came back..Others hitchiked and found themselves in horrible situations.Some were raped http://www.teenadvocatesusa.homestead.c ... gnews.html (http://www.teenadvocatesusa.homestead.com/breakingnews.html) ..And Im sure there are worse stories.I hope they open the books on cedu and find out how many went missing and the true stories of neglect that happened there.After reading all the posts it looks to me like cedu did a horrible job of hiring a good staff and a bad job at letting students call home.

I dont think so, I was there when the kid got away, he tried running away once, and then they put him on escort with a kid that was tiny, and the kid walked away from him and dan got away, all the while Iam sure they never called his parents in the first place.

I live in SoCal, but i doubt I'm gonna find the kid. I hear the last word is that he was in San Diego. If there's been no word, it probably means he made some friends, went in on some sort of crib with them, and is working an under the table job to make ends meet. If he feels like he can trust revealing himself and his location to parents, family, etc., I'm sure he'll do it. If he's not 18 yet, you'll probably just have to wait until then, as he won't feel as threatened then.
I'm not saying this is the case, I'm just saying that if I were in his shoes and had half a brain, that's exactly what I would've done.

I say if you find the kid, tell him everything you know. Urge him to contact his parents so they know if he's ok or not. That's only the decent thing to do and, generally, a teenaged kid hasn't got the capacity to understand what it's like from the parents pov. But don't turn him in! Maybe a classified ad in a national pub would be the best way to communicate at this point.
But he and his parents likely have some trust issues to sort out and neither you nor I know for sure if we'd be doing any of them a favor by busting him out.

There's definitely a sense of betrayal when your family sends you to CEDU. When my parents sent me there, I felt like they had given up, like they felt as if I was an anomaly in their lives. My siblings, they deserved the firsthand care, but all I was worthy of was a bunch of abrasive staff members and some wranglers in North Idaho. I've gotten over it, but then, I know I have quite a few years on this kid. He hasn't come running home yet, and he hasn't turned up in any police reports or morgues, so he's obviously at least got his act together. Just wait out the storm. He'll be ok.

i know how worriesome this must be for you, but I agree with the above poster, he's probably just really wary of contacting you after his CEDU experience. I'll bet he ran away more than once.

My son never runaway from home before. People can check that out easlier with a call the to the Edison Police department in New Jersey.
He was last seen in San Diego back in December. We hope he is ok and not calling home because he still angry at us.
