saw a video last night that really disturbed me....looked like straight to me...there is a reason they were closed, and i belive in my heart that it was not to start another hell like straight....if you want to win the war on drugs, surely, we can think of a more humane way...take it from someone who lost their soul due to programs as these....think about it...would you want your children to be jaded for life?????no, i don't think so....i am one of the lucky ones...thanks

I am looking for anyone that was in a program in Utah, called Proctor Advocate or Yes Families. It was started by a man named Lane Meacham. It was formed off of the Straight program. I was put in that program in 1994, and have been fucked up ever since. It has taken me a long time to discuss this. But I am 26 now, and am no longer afraid. If anyone was in this program, please reply. And to all of you that were put in other behavioral modification programs, I feel for you. And keep on keeping on. That's all for now.

I've read about Meacham.

I was part of Proctor Advocate from Summer of '90 to Winter of '90 and am also trying to find some of the people who were in the program with me.
I'm very sorry to hear that you were in this program. Are you still trying to locate people? I'd be interested in talking about this in a more private forum - please post again if you are.

I was in proctor in 90-91... What exactly do you want to know?
-
What's a proctor? Is that the name for the doctor whose job it was to poke around in druggies' backsides?
A dirty job but someone's got to do it..

Penny Walker- Executive Director-KHK Milford OH made the following statements in a letter to ODJFS regarding a host home license complaint made on 12-4-2000:
"12/14/2000
Our clients do not actually move into a host home, since they do not take their possessions or any more than a change of clothes. There parents maintain custody. The Ohio Department of Education has determined that clients use the Kids Helping Kids address as their "home" and therefore go to Milford Schools regardless of their family home address or their host home assignment. Assignments are made by Kids Helping Kids staff for clinical and security reasons."
Further on down in the letter... about the host home fee... etc...
"The fee probably does not offset the expense of having the child in the home and transporting him or her back and forth to the program. However, the parents are also transporting their own child. Kids receive breakfast and a snack in the host home. Other meals are provided here. We are closed on Sunday and the kids are in the host home that day. Hope this helps. I am looking forward to our meeting on January 9th."
