I was there when he was being "trained" by Miller Newton.
What was his style like in KY? Did he ever rage out on you in Executive Raps and then storm out, raging that the group was doing poorly? (Newton did that in Florida) - and after I watched the Va. Directors - (who Newton also taught), do the same thing - I was just wondering if it was a style that was utilized by Ross too? Do tell! Do tell!

George Ross was going to be the director but for some reason that did not ever work out. That was decided before the program actually opened. KHK in Hebron was actually started by a group of parents.

Hey... anyone been there recently? Their website says they are accredited by CARF-- and if there are recently abused people, they should write them and tell them to pull the accreditation. At least then informed parents won't put a kid in.
Has anyone contacted CARF about them already?

I thought Kentucky closed down and moved to another state! I could have sworn they're doing business in two other Northern states.
And if I recall correctly, what you guys are saying is in conflict with what Wes' site says about Ross and KHK. But it's been awhile - so I could be mistaken.
Can you guys give more detail? Ross was never part of KHK, it was started by parents, and it's allegedly still going - in Kentucky?

KHK closed down their Hebron, KY location and have been operating out of the old Cincinnati Straight building in Cincinnati, Ohio, Clermont County since 1990 or 1991.

I survived... Man what a ride... That place really messed up my mind. They made us sit on a hard ass bench from 6am till 5pm. The so-fro food - yuck! Getting motivated - how retarded. I was there in 87-89. But like every one else who posts here doesnt sign their name.
I did just read the latest KHK newsletter and saw Andy Long died. Remember him??

Everywhere I stayed was like a fortress. These fire codes were being stretched in a big way. Beltlooping and supervised bathroom visits were also a staple. There were very many similarities of KHK to straight.

was in KHK from 96-97, the place was fucked up. Needs to be shut down, and those running it should be locked up. I remember them telling me if i did not work their program i wouldn't make it through college or keep a girlfriend. Meanwhile i am enrolled in law school, engaged, and get along great with my parents (whom have sent apologized profusely for putting me in there).

I was in KHK in Hebron 1989-1990. What a messd up place that was. I also have a friend who was in there in 89 but her parents pulled her...huh wish my parents had been so thoughtful.
After they moved to Milford...they turned the building in to a catering hall and bar...Me and a buddy went in there and got trashed...lol nothing like getting drunk in the old rehab building!!! :eek:

I know of the LIFE Program in Osprey, Florida. How are survivors helping kids helping kids? I kinda thought after possibilities disbanded that it was over.I am sadened to see that the perversion continues. Nobody left around here will talk about it- so how is it going to be made to work without the abuse? Is anybody dogging these guys?

I survived the Hebron KHK nightmare. Intake in 89, successful escape in 90.
What a mind fuck! All these years later and KHK is still with me every day.
Very sad to hear Andy died. I stayed at his house a lot. Unless my memory of names is garbled, a lot from that time is of course.
