Title: Heat wave - are wilderness students being pulled out
Post by: Oscar on July 03, 2013, 01:12:37 AM
The European headlines speak of record high temperatures. In the wilderness such temperaturs can be dangerous - especially for teenagers on medication.

Are they pulled out of the wilderness until the temperatures become normal?

You really think program parents are going to drive down to the desert in the middle of a heat wave and make themselves uncomfortable?

At a certain point it no longer becomes the choice of a program. The BLM might well tell them to pack it in or go on a reduced schedule of activities during the day. In general though, I think most programs won't bother to do much beyond telling the detainees to drink more water and hold a lecture on the signs of dehydration.
