Thanks ANON for posting the link to PURE. I was wondering if anyone really read the sight or just accepted what others write about them. I am not a PUREst or a WWASPie which I'm sure I will be accused of. But I'm really glad that you posted that so that others could read it. I contacted PURE and WWASP when I was having trouble with my child and WWASP was gung ho to send out paperwork to me to cart my child off to one of their programs however, PURE did not. I more or less talked with them for hours and not once did they offer to refer my child out anywhere. They listened to the problems and basically gave me some things to think about and I am happy to say my child is at home and we are working things out thanks to PURE.

Anon, your opinion is duly noted. But really, I'm not all that interested in getting a lesson in how these 2 competitors **allegedly** go about working their sales leads. What does interest me is how parents go about gathering information to better access the credibility of any organization that is in this business. Testimonial evidence is fine, but should never be relied upon as proof-positive.

--------------------------------------------
I'm sorry, the correct term I meant to use is ASSESS the credibility ....
-
Also, if a parent is taken in by their website and see most of what they are doing is slamming one particular program, it would be a big RED FLAG to stay as far away as possible.
If a wwasp rep wanted to send you the information at the get go wouldn't mean that you would be able to research what they offer? I don't see that as a negative.
I'm happy to hear you didn't have to send your child to a program. Home is the best place for healing if it hasn't gone beyond your control.

Of the 11 propositions,I like the one pertaining to ed cons and independent referral agents the best. Not likely to be resolved in my lifetime, but hey, it sure sounds good.

To Whom It May Concern:
The World Wide Association Specialty Programs and Schools is one of the world?s largest and
most successful associations of schools and programs for struggling teens. The key to our
success has been our parent satisfaction rate.
In order to determine our parent satisfaction rate we recently surveyed both parents of students
who have previously been in the schools or programs and parents of students who are currently
in the schools or programs.
Concerning parents of students that have previously been in the schools or programs, 97.4% of
the respondents were satisfied with the program and would recommend the program to someone
else.
Concerning parents of students currently in the schools or programs, 97.1% of the respondents
stated they were either happy or very happy with the school or program that their child is
enrolled in.
Our high parent satisfaction rate is further evidenced by the fact that we received 1,344 Letters
of Appreciation from parents during 2001 and 1,739 Letters of Appreciation from parents during
2002.
The most significant evidence of our satisfaction rate is shown in our student census. (total
number of students enrolled in the World Wide Association of Specialty Programs and Schools)
Our enrollment has more than doubled in the last 3 years. The following census reports show
our growth since 1999:
December 9, 2002 census 2,214 Students
December 10, 2001 census 1,765 Students
December 11, 2000 census 1,382 Students
December 13, 1999 census 984 Students
We are very happy with our parent satisfaction rate, especially considering our type of industry.
Like any successful organization, we have enemies with dubious motives. Unfortunately, we
have had a few parents who have been influenced by our enemies without fully understanding
these motives. While we have a few detractors, we have thousands of supporters that have had
positive experiences and results through the schools and programs in our Association.

I think you wanted to link to http://www.purerebuttal.com (http://www.purerebuttal.com)
Not much on the http://www.wwasp.com (http://www.wwasp.com) site, but the http://www.wwasprebuttal.com (http://www.wwasprebuttal.com) has the info you were wanting to share. Problem is, the folks here don't want to read what is true without finding fault with it, hey, we're a cult, don't cha know?? LOL!
-
The problem is
no one with the least bit of criticism of wwasp can post or express there concerns in any way, on any wwasp site.
That is a problem.

Maybe that's because it's a support site. Not a disgruntled parent site. There's enough of those anyway...so what's you're point?
-
Well, shut my mouth. I didn't realize one couldn't critisize on a support site!
But gee, if this is so, then how is it you porgram parents can swarm sites intended as support sites for program survivors, and critisize them?
Even going so far as to complain that they are being negitive and critical of your beloved program to the site hosts to get it shut down? Example, the Voy board.
No telling how many of the other survivor sites that have bit the dust thanks to you programed parents invading and complaining.
So, it appears being a support site dosn't innoculate it from the opisite point of view; unless it is a wwasp support site.
How conveient for wwasp.

Wrong! Karen Z - That was your post, right? Many parents state their feelings, positive and negative on the wwasp site. What they don't allow are blatant attacks -

Is KarenZ posting anoumously?

Looks like it, but she also posts as "Anon" - username is Anon, not ANON or ANONYMOUS. Dig it!

What happened to the notice about the direct action lawsuit?
-
Ok, it seems the link is still working, but it appears there is no link anymore on the PURE website to any information about the direct action lawsuit.
-
What Happened????
-
Maybe ISAC knows? They had info on their website about the lawsuit. See link below:

-
I don't see anything about the class-action on ISAC's website anymore, either. Just announcements that they are working with some lawfirms on certain cases. So what's the deal?

Because, without the strict controls on communication common to all of these private prisons, they can't possibly win over the hearts and minds of reasonably intelligent people. That's what the First Amendment is all about. :wink:The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.

Funny thing is when ever someone states "negative issues about a WWASP experience" all the WWASPies come out in droves like aunts to a picnic.
During my days of the BBS I saw what happened to people that didn't buy into WWASP's dinamics. Um my memory recolection is they were banned from the site. If WWASPERS have a problem with the truth behind the scenes of WWASP I suggest going back to your home on the BBS.
Going back to the seminars (which is what you understand) might I add "thank you for caring about me enough in giving me your honest feedback" ::puke::
Going in the circle of the horse shoe or 4 leaf clover isn't it funny how most people say the same thing over and over and over as it is what they listened to from the "staffer".
I am not discrental save it.....I see the truth with the faults within the program. From my seminar and program experience I found that the ones that stuck in like glue were those that had no life to begin with. Loners, alcoholics, abusers, and druggies. Changing from one addiction to another. The rest of us took what we believe in and weeded out the rest of the crap as WWASPers enjoy wallowing in it.
Someone throw them a pitch fork!
-
Sorry for the spelling errors....typing faster than spell check. dinamics (dynamics) discruntal (disgruntle)
-
Anybody know the statistics on how many adopted kids end up in programs? Seems to me that would open the door to further abandonment issues and that these parents are only kidding themselves if they think otherwise.
