I'm wondering how much merit organizing staff of programs would have? I remember repeated instances where program staff were railroaded so the program could cover their asses.
Be an interesting debate...
If anything it would royally piss off program owners.
Which is always good in my book.

I like the idea.

There is a health services union of sorts for people in the medical industry. I read it about it on wikipedia the other day when I was reading up on Unions and the labor movement in general.

I feel compelled to butt in here with a non-specific comment about unions per se ... not necessarily being anti-program. A lot would certainly depend on the particular union in question.
That said, from the general standpoint of advocating for humane working conditions, appropriate compensation, and not being forced to participate in psycho surgery on unsuspecting and more or less captive minors, I'm all for it.

Working here in China gives me a different perspective on Unionized labor than I used to have. I used to be quite anti-Union thinking like many Americans that Unions are inherently bad due to the corruption that came with the Unions connections to politics and organized crime.
These days I now wish that there were stronger Union forces available. Moral and upright ones that were known for their history of integrity.
Not entirely sure how a program would respond to an attempt of their entry level staff to organize. I'm not entirely sure how organized labor would benefit the detainees in a program.
But I can imagine the absolute shitfit that would hit Bain Capitol if one of their programs suddenly became a Union Shop.
hahahaha. The rage.
