Counselor at Children's Home Arrested
Tue Nov 25, 6:46 AM ET U.S. National - AP
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - A counselor at a residential center for troubled and abused children has been accused of holding down a 14-year-old resident while a classmate sodomized him with a broomstick. Officials said the attack happened Thursday at Children's Village, in a cottage where a dozen teens resided. The 14-year-old said he was chased into a shower room. The counselor, Jason Brown, 29, and Elliot Perryman, 16, were arrested Friday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse. They were being held on $50,000 bail each. "The exact motivation for the attack is unclear, and it remains under investigation," said Dobbs Ferry police Chief George Longworth.

"The exact motivation for the attack is unclear, and it remains under investigation," Dobbs Ferry Police Chief George Longworth said. "It's very concerning seeing an adult who is responsible for caring for children being involved in the assault of a child."
The chief said detectives were looking into the possibility that the assault was part of a simulation of a prison "lockdown" that got out of hand.
Police said they also were concerned that school officials questioned several students and staff members before reporting the incident.
The incident was the most serious case of abuse at the school since June 2002, when a 16-year-old student, Clifford Lightner, was accused of luring a fellow student into the woods and slashing his throat. Lightner was charged with attempted murder. The disposition of that case was not available yesterday.
