About a year ago there were a bunch of RUSH fans on the board. I have recently accepted a position as Business Manager for a RUSH Tribute Band playing in New Jersey known as Hemispheres.
If anyone is interested in RUSH or seeing a great tribute band, then please e-mail me at jeffzoccoli@cs.com. Thanks again.

Im still here...the band i was telling you about that reminded me of rush is "coheed and cambria" they apparently have been compared to rush in rolling stone. Went to their concert the other night and two old men came out saying they had brought their sons to see the other band but that coheed reminded them of rush! They have also "supposedly" said that they never listened to rush so they did and said they didnt like them, but there is a hidden song on the latest album named 2113 and has sooooo many rush traits.
Look it up. You might like it.
Im coming up on monday...I'll give you a buzz...
PS: Is Hemispheres playing the week i'm up there?

We played last night at ANG-E B's in Elmwood Park and had a great show! The crowd was wild and they had a great time.
We are playing next on December 12 at The County Line Pub and then again at ANG-E B's on December 20th. Our big date is for January 23rd at the Wreck Room in Wallington.

You 2 will always be head bangers. :smokin:

When I was 12 years old, Rush was the shit. I took it upon myself to learn as much of the album 2112 as I could on the guitar. Rush got plenty of airplay on 98Rock, a radio station explicitly prohibited by straight inc. back in the early '80s.

oh yeah, rush linbaugh rules
-
I remember Joel M and his brother used to love Rush. I remember him telling me the drummer was the best in the world.
-
Best drummer? I guess, if you like showmanship better than a solid in-the-pocket type of drummer...like Charlie Watts, for instance. Bonham and Moon also kick ass...
If you really want "technically-adept style" drums though, listen to some jazz players, like Chick Webb, etc..
-
Our drummer has been playing for over 40 years and started playing at the ripe young age of 2. He is very talented and actually gives some of the pros a run for their money.
If anyone is interested, we are playing next at County Line Pub in West Caldwell, NJ on December 12 and then at ANG-e B's in Elmwood Park, NJ on December 20.
Would love for you all to be there.
-
I used to get that stuff in a little bottle in Village head shops. Would huff that crap in class at school. Man, what a nasty headache.

I cant believe somebody actually thinks chuck watts is good. Hes behind the one arm guy from def lep. Now lets talk about billy Cobham(mahavishnu, miles)or tony Williams or max or mitch mitchel, bruford, palmer to name a few. I never saw any of them twirl there sticks!
-
Till the end, baby...

To repeat myself -
"If you really want "technically-adept style" drums though, listen to some jazz players, like Chick Webb, etc.."
I suppose this Tony Williams guy would fall into that category, same with some of those other progressive and jazz drummers that you mentioned. But that's a different neighborhood from rock and roll. Charlie Watts is a great drummer, and the Stones were undeniably a great band. I can't say much for 'em NOW, but they definitely had their day, right?
And yes, Mitch Mitchell is great, but you failed to comment on John Bonham or Keith Moon, who I had also mentioned...
-
Personally I think Rush sucks.
They are the technical equivalent to N'Sync or Backstreet Boys or whoever.
A bunch of guys who can play their asses off but have no clue about music...it's sterile, boring, heartless stuff.
I always equated Rush (and other bands of their ilk) to masterbating in public...
Oh, and Charlie Watts kicks Neil Pearts' ass on many different levels. If you get this, no explanation is necessary, if not, no explanation is possible (to borrow a little program speak bullshit)!!
-
Thank you for that bit there, anon. I know what you're saying. And, another drummer I always liked is the guy who drums for the Allman Brothers Band, Butch Trucks. (?) An excellent drummer, somewhere in the middle, if you know what I mean...
-
Is it not great to talk music with out Newton and his gang of misfits telling us its wrong. God how much more do I love music since my release from hell. One drummer some may not of heard of is Danny Carey from a little band called TOOL!!! I guess I might as well be an issue in a 3-5 rap. In 1993 I was in kids and driving back from school on 5th phase I heard the song Sober by Tool. I feel guilty!! Will I get set back????
-
Live album coming soon.
-
i already have the DVD...it came out months ago.
-
Thanks, cleaned my ears with Q-Tip and Rush still sucks to me and Charlie Watts and his heroin-addled ass is still kicking it over that pansy, poetry writing pussy who is all technique no soul (Neil Peart).
-
"Opinions are like assholes..." :smokin:
just kidding, guys...
but i DO love RUSH and will always love RUSH...lots of sentimental value with my brother and I and other very special people in my life.
-
Watts isnt even in the same class. He is an uneducated herion addict that cleans up every time he needs to tour. You must need a q-tip for your ears
Come on, man! Before you go talkin' trash about the Stones, at least get your facts together! It was KEITH who had his blood changed out, not Charlie...and uneducated as he may be, (Keith, that is) he's come up with RIFFS that outshine anything Rush has ever done (and ever will do) like a fukkin' BLOWTORCH outshines a match... Rush vs. The Stones? Are you kiddin' me?
You must need an enema for your BRAIN.
-
And since when does rock and roll require a person to be educated, anyway? It ain't about intellect so much as it's about viscera, GUTS.
What I was saying about Keith is that he would pay $5000 before US tour to have his blood exchanged for clean blood so that he could get through it without shooting up..he did this at some hospital in Switzerland.
Go ahead and knock the Stones all you want..they rock Rush's BALLS OFF, even on a bad night..
-
/bump...
C'mon, let's BS about music some more..
-
My band is playing (Hemispheres-RUSH Tribute) this Saturday night at ANG-E B's in Elmwood Park at 401 Boulevard. It would be great to see anyone there. They come on at 10:30pm. Just ask for their manager Jeff and I'll take care of you!
Thanks.
Jeff
-
I'll be sure NOT to be there.
Just fuckin' with ya, man. Have a good show..
-
I saw these boys once before, fabulous musicians. And I`m not a big fan of cover bands.
-
My guys have been playing for years. Our drummer has been playing for over 40 years and has been in other original bands that have toured Europe.
The guitarist toured the world with Joe Jackson and Marshall Crenshaw and was just written up in a national magazine for his abilities to restore old guitars and string instruments.
While they are a cover band they are all extremely talented and it is quite a treat for any RUSH fan to see them play.
Our next show at the Wreck Room in Wallington will be promoted by 105.5 WDHA and we will be having an air drummer contest. The winner of which will get a pair of tickets to RUSH in August!
See you guys on Saturday, Feb 28th!

not to mention I live in Wallington now.
