Yeah I went in during 77 and was one of the originals so it wasn't around very much longer than that.

I just heard recently that CEDU was founded in the `60's. The Seed opened in `70. So I think CEDU is the grandaddy of all the Elan style boarding schools and The Seed/Straight has other related origins.

Mel Wasserman started Cedu more or less straight out of the Synanon house in Santa Monica, I've read.

Actually, CEDU started in Mel and Brigitte Wasserman's home in Palm Springs. They had participated at Synanon as "squares" (non drug users, non-residents) for a few months, but they actually started CEDU out of their home. Know it for a fact. I was there.

I lived at CEDU 1971-1973 when it was located in Running Springs...  any alumi from that time zone around????
