Che made a comment that Suck-It and Whooter are ignoring me. Well, I have not felt that and I never thought it was important that they listened to me or not. I have supported their opinions but then again, Che, I have supported yours also. I try to be fair when listening to others, take what they have to say under consideration.
I will say this, if you're looking for my responses to be more in line with Suck-IT or Whooters that is not going to happen, I am much more aggressive and animated. My language is definitely more colorful. I am not them nor want to be. Do I have similar experiences as Whooter or Suck-It, very little. Whooter had a child go to treatment, which helped her tremendously and Suck -it went to a WAASP program that helped him, as he has said.
I, on the other hand, went to a program you all know, "Elan" that did absolutely nothing to help me. I am very clear about this and have said so unequivocally.
I believe Whooter, Suck-It and myself do merge through an ability to see all programs were not like, Elan.
I found this out shortly after I left Elan and ran into an old friend in the service over seas. He had gone to another program for about the same amount of time that I went to Elan. The very first thing I noticed about him was his conformability, he was comfortable being back in life. We talked about where we had gone, both of us had been in a lot of trouble, been institutionalized and were sent to programs, I told him of my horrible experience at Elan. He told me he was sorry for me, that he ended up going to a program which helped him a great deal. It showed in his presence and how he spoke about the program. He said the program had helped him to see the error of his ways, why drugs were never going to help, managing his anger, learning to deal with the pain he felt from a childhood of abuse, setting goals and accomplishing them and building a future of success. I remember walking away hurt, I wanted what he had. Shortly after that meeting I sobered up and began, in earnest, with much help from professionals to help myself.
During my early sobriety, I stayed in contact with this gentleman, I now call him one of my best friends. He works for a program that is everything I have mentioned here above. NO, I will not identify this program. I will say this it is nothing like what I have read about here on fornits.
This inspired me to get more involved with kids, that are going through what I went through and make sure they get the best help they can get. I can only help a few at a time because of my profession, I do what I can.
There are good programs out there, they don't market or advertise. They do not have to, they are small population entities, which are very serious about their care for children.
I find it very suspicious that no one here knows of such programs and would argue of their success with kids.
I have been around almost a year and the programs I have read about are awful. So I do not have a problem with (fornits) members actions, but I also know first hand there are good places for kids that need help.
Now Che, if your saying that Whooter and Suck-It are ignoring me because I have views such as these, well OK. I would think that you would be mistaken but who knows here on fornits.
Difference between Che and myself, I don't have to like you (personally) to support you. Though I will say I do have to respect you. Which, for some reason, Che, you seem to want to test consistently.
I, personally will continue to support everyone and anyone who has an opinion, I can respect.
Suck-It and Whooter have spoken about the victimization they have suffered, I don't believe anyone could altercate this.
I have received my share but there is a difference here, how I react to it and how they have reacted. Just because my reactions have been outlandish this should not cover up the fact that I have been abused for my past affiliations and recent views. Example; Accusing me of dragging a child around by rope from behind a vehicle.
Many would say well, Danny, you have caused this. That would be a fact (no excuses) bad behavior begets bad behavior. I have curbed this demeanour by staying away from people here on fornits that would love to draw me into their reckless reactions. I have had a learning curve, no doubt. We all learn from mistakes or we suffer the consequences.
Changing the subject.
Stop for a second and think about this. Suck-It comes to fornits with a experience he believes, In fornits opinion he is suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome", so instead of going easy on him and trying to bring him around slowly. NO, y'all start a campaign to demolish him, totally debase him.
So we have another circumstance such as Morgan, opportunity to help or at the very least learn something but fuck no, lets kill what we fear or don't understand.
Ken Huey came on this site, great opportunity to learn something, ya know glean information about programs. We don't have to like him or respect him, he was a means to justify a end. NO!!!!!! We could not muster the vision (CHE) to see what was right in front of us.Members here are very confusing to watch (read), your thoughts sway with the wind. Which ever way it blows.
So many member of fornits have said I have been helped here, my life was complete once I found this place. I am sure this has been true. I have just not seen this. Almost like my experience with my program, everyone else I know had a great experience with there program, I did not. Hey, don't go there. I am not complaining, I really don't expect anything from fornits at this point but a rational expressive conversation, maybe.
I did learn something from a good friend that there are venues that can help kids who need help, same as I will learn from fornits that there are programs still hurting children. I just hope fornits will learn their opinion is not the end all.
My thoughts.

Yep life is like a game of chess, a wonderful analogy. So long as you can get up from the table and walk away, after you have been killed. AAAAaaahhhh yes, I live to fight another day.
Joel, it must be nice to be as young and flexible as you are, just bouncing through life without a care. Saying whatever you want, not caring, having no priorities. I would guess you are not responsible for anyone directly, it shows.
We can't wait until Joel assumes more responsibility, ie; someone's life (child). Hopefully there will be some depth to your comments at that point, you will not see the need to be so flippant.
Joel this thread is a very important testament, of how I view things here, I was sharing a part of me. I would hope if anyone, you could grasp what I am trying to get across. It is not a priority, though.
Sorry I had some hard words for your brother, where you felt you had to run to his defense. He can take care of himself.

All of the following quotes are from Danny B
"I will say this, if you're looking for my responses to be more in line with Suck-IT or Whooters that is not going to happen"
True, your styles my be a little different, but when you get down to to crux of the buiscut, you pretty much walk lock-step with each other. Right down the same little grammatical and spelling mistakes.
"Suck -it went to a WAASP program that helped him, as he has said."
Please cite where (he/she) ever said what program (he/she) went to.
"I, personally will continue to support everyone and anyone who has an opinion, I can respect."
And if you don't respect (my/our) opinion?
"Suck-It comes to fornits with a experience he believes"
(He /she) has never even copped to it's own gender
"Members here are very confusing to watch (read), your thoughts sway with the wind. Which ever way it blows."
Maybe in Che's case. I know who suck it is but I ain't tellin' (paraphrese)
"I really don't expect anything from fornits at this point but a rational expressive conversation"
With yourself? tell me why anytime I've posed a question or a statement towards SUCK-IT, it is met with a swift defensive response from you? One might think it would get to the point where he would step in and ask to fight his own battles.
Unless he already is.

Descriptions of interactions between people in conversation,… readily take it for granted that the situation is governed by a single set of rules or norms shared by all participants. The analysis focuses then on how those rules produce or fail to produce an orderly, coherent exchange. Models involving games and moves are often used to describe interactions. Despite whatever conflicts or systematic social differences might be in play, it is assumed that all participants are engaged in the same game and that the game is the same for all players. Often it is. But of course it often is not, as, for example, when speakers are from different classes or cultures, or one party is exercising authority and another is submitting to it or questioning it.
When linguistic (or literate) interaction is described in terms of orderliness, games, moves, or scripts, usually only legitimate moves are actually named as part of the system, where legitimacy is defined from the point of view of the party in authority--regardless of what other parties might see themselves as doing.

Now Che, if your saying that Whooter and Suck-It are ignoring me because I have views such as these, well OK. I would think that you would be mistaken but who knows here on fornits.
I only ignore people who are aggressive/rude to me. To be honest I don't pay much attention to the elan threads, or the drama associated with all of that, I don't even know what it's about or what people are arguing about it. So as much as that is concerned, I do tend to ignore it because I didn't go to elan and don't know the people involved and so don't pay much attention to it. I appreciate everybody's posts on this forum, some people agree with me sometimes and others don't. I'm here just to share my opinions and people are free to disagree or agree if they want. I tend to pay more attention to posters who are able to acknowledge that this issue is not black or white, and that there is room for different outcomes and experiences from programs. It's hard to have a conversation with an anti treatment extremist because they don't want to hear your side, they just want to preach about what they view as the one and only truth. I agree with Danny about AA, in that he seems to not think it's evil and I think its actually a great organization that helps millions of people.
As far as people demanding information from me, and questioning my credibility as a result of my lack of answering questions, well tough shit. I will say what I want to say, and if that makes people question whether I am fiction, or lying or whatever that's their right. I am not too concerned with how I am perceived here, I am here to talk about my experiences and opinions and people are free to believe it or disregard it completely. I am not getting involved in the politics and personal battles here because I see it as a waste of time. I am not here trying to sway anybody's opinions or mind, I am just offering my own in the same way I would if I was in a bar having a drink and somebody asked me about being in treatment and what I thought about it. I really could care less what people think of me here, my username should be a hint at that.
As far as affiliations go on fornits, I think right now it's either you are "in" with the group think cult, or you are on the "out". If you are on the "in" you can be quickly shown the door if you say the wrong thing. So to be honest, I am much more comfortable being on the "out" where I can tell my truth as I see it, and not worry what people will think of me for saying it. I think whooter, danny and me are on the "out" because of our opinions and refusal to accept the group think here that people desperate to fit in will spout without giving any real thought to what they are saying. Honesty on fornits means you will not be popular.

In response to the OP:
Danny II is holding his own very well in this anti-program environment. Like Suck it, I don’t follow the Elan threads and would not be able to contribute much there. I think I can contribute better in the Aspen and general knowledge threads because that is where my experiences are.
I think what we have in common is that we really don’t care what people think of us and remain open minded and therefore have the advantage of being able to learn something new each day which keeps our view point fluid and ever changing. We don’t take disagreement personally. We are very much unlike the Anne Bonneys of the world who view the entire industry from their lone experience from 40 years ago and remain stuck in the past with no intention of learning from other peoples experiences. People like Anne for some reason feel threatened by those who were helped by the industry. (I used Annes name here as an example but it applies to many people, I am not looking to pick a fight with her, and I think we all know her position on programs and think she would agree here that she feels all programs are abusive).
A good example is when Danny mentioned that he learned from someone who had a good experience in a program. He listened and did the natural thing which was to question why his experience was different and search for answers. What continues to miff me every day here is why many posters here on fornits reject people who say that programs helped them and try to label these people with Stockholm syndrome or brainwashed….. why do they run pages and pages of posts to try to discredit them because they had a different experience. Why try to discredit me or SUCK IT because we pose different opinions?
I think this would make a good topic… Why are many people here threatened by those who did well in a program? Why do they take it so personally?
I actually have to admit that I followed the whole AA argument and the Orange papers rebuttal and I don’t understand why it matters to anyone if a person goes to AA and it works for them. If they can connect up with others who are struggling with similar issues and it helps them through another day then it is effective…. Who cares if outsiders think it is effective or not. It works for some people and not for others, no harm no foul.
Bottom Line is there are a few of us who enjoy the freedom of having an open mind and are not tied to an ever failing philosophy that all programs are abusive and every child was a abused or brainwashed. Unlike many anti program posters we (Suck IT, Danny II etal ) don’t feel the need to rush to each others aid when an argument breaks out. We don’t do this because we know it is a learning process for us, not a threat to our being or self esteem. It must be an awful feeling keeping a closed mind and not being able to learn something new and feeling threatened every time some new information is presented or a study is released.

Not all kids are harmed by thier program, but all programs harm somebody. It's like war, not everyone dies. In fact some people flurish, and become heros. But war is still BAD! And it seems the program defenders feel that there are acceptable casualty levels, just like war. I SAY NO! To Whooter,SUCK-IT,and Danny B I ask, how many kids were thrown under the bus for yours and your family's sobriety? Was it worth it ? Did you even thank them?

So whats the answer, none-ya? Should we shut all the public schools down because they hurt some kids? Shut down the car companies because of defective accelerators? Kill off all the chickens because of the salmonella they spread? Shut down the daycare systems and nursing homes? I dont think anyone should get hurt. Even one child getting hurt is unacceptable, but giving up isnt the answer either.
Like I said, some people are short sighted and closed minded. We need to look at the whole picture not just the one kid that gets hurt. Kids are going to continue to get hurt but we cant just give up hope. We need to keep pushing forward, improving the system and working towards helping them all.. not shutting them down.

Silly me. I forgot. when I want a response from you, I have to ask SUCK IT first.
None-Ya,
The reason I have been taking my time answering your question is I am troubled by the motive.
?? Just ask!

I'm still waiting

OK!!!!! There are 3 frogs on a log, they have made a decision. How many frogs are still on the log????
-
If the three of you are Whooter, suck-max and yourself, that only ='s one in total.

Answer the question, Sherlock.....

It's not 3 unless there are 3 different frogs.

One more time, answer the question.

This is the point we are all still sitting on the log, all we did is make a decision. So your answer to your question is three.

None-Ya, we are all three different folks, just trying to get along here with a different set of views.

I felt this was appropriate for this thread also.

Botched, at this point you only have yourself to blame for this hideous poor use of time. If you feel this strongly about programs you have a funny way of showing it. Slaying the whooterdragon hasn't yet happened on these forums. You know why? Too many of the people who need help being redirected away from abusing their children by proxy don't have the institutional memory of the Whooter''s many overblown antics. We have entire threads devoted to figuring out who he is, yet, it hasn't yet stopped him from posting.

To fornit members,
I skipped the rest of it because I am sure you get it. Aaron is now using another tactic, Hmmmmm.....let me massage Whooter, see if I can try the good cop approach. Next you will be coming around to try an split us up. Danny is the bad guy and Whooter is not to bad after all.

Aaron let me help ya, were not connected personally. We share some views concerning fornits. The other thing we have in common is the fact we are attacked often for our opinions.
Difference between Whooter and myself, Whooter most often ignores the attacks and sticks to the point and can be very much the gentlemen. I, on the other hand, will not ignore condescending twits, will attack back usually with far greater force, and I do not care if while raging war, I look like a gentleman.
Well, I am not actually waging war but what a "Freudian slip". I will internalize this crack in my armor.
All I have ever asked since I have been here is, treat everyone with respect regardless of opinion. No, that is too tall an order around here. Well, you get what you give.
Maybe if everyone would just stick to the topic and stay away from personal attacks, hey, we could get somewhere here. I am willing.
Never have I heard Tim, Tiger, Suck-IT (Max) degrade, debase or insult anyone here. Whooter rarely looses his cool even though he is chronically abused.
That is my job so to speak, stick up for the folks that are being abused here by giving back. Yes I purposely give back what you hand out, and you don't like it.
I would love to be fired from my job, stand down, move on and maybe get another job. What a concept, just come here and share my thoughts and opinions, not worry about being attacked. Be allowed to have a different opinion.
I think Fornits is moving slowly towards the middle, especially after the debacle with Suck-It, he did have some valid points. So happy he is still here.
The question is. Why can't we coexist??? Is it because we just don't want to or is it truly impossible?? I think in the coming weeks and months we will see. What kind of people we are.
The fighting that goes on; here is only from a few, the Elan Forum and 5-6 members from other programs. We should all be embarrassed with how we act towards one another. We are not enemies, though we act like it. We are more like brothers and sisters squabbling over minor points of a far greater discussion that we are not ready to have.
Folks have questioned my emotional and mental stability, since I have come here, you/I should wonder. Anyone here who has been abused as a child should question their sensibility. No doubt most of us who went through a mindfuck early on will struggle in life. I do not believe anyone here would argue that. What struggles, I/we have and to what extent these troubles manifest are of importance. I constantly have sought guidance to help myself through God, family, friends and counseling. It is an ongoing process. I don't want it to end, the education is comforting. I have always felt hope.
