Will Be Featured on ABC's Primetime Thursday on May 9th.
(Albany, OR- April 12, 2002) Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Expeditions (CFWTE), an Albany based adolescent treatment program, will be featured on ABC?s Prime Time Thursday on May 9th, at 10:00PM PST. An ABC film crew accompanied a three-week therapeutic expedition in August of 2001. The program follows the stories of clients as they participated in a therapeutic wilderness expedition, and also focuses on the post trek progress adolescents and their families have made. The program will highlight CFWTE?s innovative and effective way to address adolescent substance abuse, mental health and family related issues, as seen through the eyes of the accompanying ABC producer. Please mark your calendars and remember to check your local listings to confirm the time.

My friend Aaron went on one of their trips. He said it was an awful lot of bullshit and that the kids he was grouped with were really fucked up. He did not have a bad time though. He said the staff realized early on that he was not on the same level as most of the kids he was there with and they basically left him alone. If you ask me it is his mother who needs to be institutionalized, (actually she was once voluntarily) I can't stand to be in that house for more than 5 minutes. The Mother and sister never stop nagging everyone.

Has anyone been able to determine the identity of the girl who died while participating in the Nevada based Catherine Freer program not long after this story aired? If so, please post the info here or send me a private email if you prefer at http://www.teenadvocatesua.org (http://www.teenadvocatesua.org)

I went on a 21 day trek with Cathrine Freer. I figured that some one would die there, it was really hard. I did learn alot while I was there, and I went to 2 programs after that, (MK Ranch School, and Copper Canyon Academy). We did many dangerious hikes durring my time there, and we even ran out of water for almost a whole day, and those who had a little drinkable water were not allowed to share. A guy named Mark on my trek, weighing over 215 lbs. almost passed out because of it. He also almost fell off a cliff on one of our last days. Unfortunatly I have not been able to contact any of my fellow trekers from July 2001, Oregon/California expidition. Any info, contact me at Leaphoto79ohana@aol.com
