Ive just bought one and I thought that I would be alerted to the presence of all traffic cameras on my way.
Presumably this is not the case?
So I have now realised that I need to download POI alerts from internet.
Do I have to buy these or can I get these for free from somewhere?

Another option:
Most cops wont bother you if you are driving 70 in a 65. But lets say you travel 70 miles per day to get to work.
If you went 70 miles per hour instead of 80 miles per hour it would take you an extra 7.5 minutes to get to work every day. If you set your alarm 10 minutes earlier each day you could still get to work the same time and have a few minutes to spare (get a coffee on the way).
The money you saved on not buying all the speed equipment, radars and shit would pay for free coffees every morning. Cool? Something to think about anyway.

My GPS (tomtom) has it as an optional downloadable addon (at least in the european version). I'm not sure if there is a US database equivalent available direct from tomtom but there seem to be databases out there you can download. A quick google revealed this site:
http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/united_states/safety/ (http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/united_states/safety/)
It appears to have GPS data in a variety of formats for many different brands and models. See if yours is listed and give it a shot.
