Just to let everyone know,

The protest was a complete success! Thanks to everyone who could make it and thanks to all of you who wanted to but couldn't. We had people from Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky drive in.

You can view some of the pictures from the protest here:

http://www.heal-online.org/ky0709.htm (http://www.heal-online.org/ky0709.htm)

We talked to a lot of people and some knew of Pathway (One girl thought I was Mark West!). After the protest we drove up to pass flyers around Castleton and did a little checking up on the program.

It is rumored that there are approximately 12 kids left in the Pathway program and that some will be "graduated" this Friday. That's right, "12"! And you know what numbers this low means.

From the response we were greeted with at the protest, the lack of any Pathway resistance and overwhelming evidence that Pathway is in financial ruin..................

Well, you can draw your own conclusions.

What happened to the media? Did they not show? Seems like all those signs should have generated SOME interest with the media folks.

Turning the frown upside down gives ^ vertigo.
Our sullen friend here probably forgot the part where expressions of congratulations and admiration and best hopes for the 12 are conveyed.

About the media:

I contacted all local Indianapolis television media and one left leaning newspaper and sent them a press release of our protest 3 weeks before it occured. I also sent a reminder e-mail to all parties 1 week before the protest.

I received no response and we received no media coverage whatsoever. WISH 8 drove by about 1pm and saw us but never stopped to talk to us or take pictures.

This was exactly the same response we got from the major media outlets when we were protesting in Cincinnati, with the exception of the Cincinnati Beacon and WCPO, Hagit Limor's investigation after KHK/PFC closed.

We get lucky when we get news coverage. I am obviously not the person to be in charge of media relations.

Regardless of that, the protest had a great impact and I am content with the response we received.

Thanks to all who protested any/all of the facilities!!!!  I'm sorry I couldn't join you, but so happy that it's impossible for me to help protest this program now!!!!

Keep fighting the good fight!

What's going to happen to the kids in the program right now?  Are they going home, or are they being shuffled to another program, like when Milford closed down?

I am not at liberty to publicly convey specific information at this time but I will state a few of my opinions about these recent circumstances:

I believe that Pathway is "in the process" of closing permanently. The closing of their doors at Castleton Park is not necessarily the closing of the Pathway program. Although, I do believe the closure of the Pathway program will follow shortly. I do not mean to insinuate that Pathway will not return under the guise of another name and/or location.

There is no other Pathway program building left to shuffle the remaining kids to, there are only host homes. I do not believe that Pathway will return to Milford, Ohio.

I believe there are only 11 kids left in Pathway currently.

Many of us are watching Pathway very closely and taking steps to insure that any Pathway spawn is unsuccessful at surviving. We all know how name change/location change works with programs.

I believe that many different variables contributed to Pathway's upcoming (and hopeful) demise. Protesting was a large part of raising awareness but the overall culmination of several years of efforts and support from others who had fought relentlessly was integral to efficiently "break the back" of this program.

The economy and current recession are definite contributors to Pathway's failure to survive. But, I absolutely believe that without the efforts of so many people protesting and all other efforts to thwart this program, Pathway would still be thriving today.

The internet has proven to be any program's worst nightmare. This is what brings all of us together so that we may understand what happened to us and subsequently fight to put an end to it in whatever ways we are individually inclined.

I will post more information as I receive it and when I feel that it is appropriate to do so.

No matter what, I believe a celebration is in order due to the casualties this program has sustained.

KICK ASS!!!!!!!What ever they say,  we all really know the truth, and thats a whole lot of you, either directly or indirectly     Way more than Pathway ever dreamed.   Terri I told you that you fucked with the wrong family and I ment it  till you closed.  I was right,  and both of us knew it/know it.  So hussle this.   :twofinger:               And know Im coming after what you owe me,  hint-hint       Remember I was right, and you got caught with your pants down,  the scramble is on.    Oh by the way,  I notified the I R S,  so you better cover your tracks.           Another non productive business goes to hell.  Did someone say  Enron???

So then...Milford's done and Valaparaiso is done, is that right ??

Someone mentioned how the program has a known history of changing it's name and restructuring it's organization so as to appear in forms the public and the law can avoid associating with the former program name.  It's a good time not to let up, kill any spawn before it can grow.  Stay vigilant now.

Hey Starry, they're ALL done now. Not only that, but this coming Friday, they could end up owing their landlord in Indy over $1.16 MILLION..  :roflmao:

What I'd be wondering is what about this Million Dollar loss makes it all worth it? One minute they were touting their White House connection, the next minute they're closing down the whole operation. That just doesn't make sense unless it involves some kind of "investment" or something... eh?

If this was a real e-mail, Barbara Towner does not know how to write a letter. But hey, that's Pathway professionalism.
