Post by: AuntieEm2 on June 25, 2009, 08:04:23 PM
The United Nations Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment went into effect on June 26, 1987. Events are held around the world to mark this important anniversary.

A bit more info can be found at the Center for Victims of Torture, http://http://www.cvt.org. Some of you may also be interested in the organization, though they focus primarily on the needs of victims of war and political oppression.
